Had my first alterations appointment today...

Jessica, on July 26, 2014 at 8:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

And my dress is TIGHT!! So I guess I'm eating salad for the next three months! Luckily alterations are only going to cost me about $50. I'm 5'9 so the length is perfect and it fits really well, they are cinching the top to make a sweetheart and sewing on the belt. Today I also learned that the belt I bought back in November has gold tones to it and totally clashes with my shoes and jewellery! Hopefully David's Bridal will let me exchange it for something different. I don't want to have to pay another $70 for a new one that matches!

This picture is when I bought it back in November, I've been avoiding the dress so I wouldn't end up hating it. Today I fell in love with it again especially after seeing it as a sweetheart!

You look amazing in that dress! I had the same issue! I ordered my dress in the exact size my measurements were. I have gained no weight but at the first fitting it was tight so I am with you on the salads!

Thank you Leslie!! I haven't gained any weight either! I have no idea what happened but when my sister almost couldn't get it zipped it made me very nervous. I'm going to start trying it on like every two weeks to see where I'm at, I want to be able to breathe on my wedding day!

It's probably because the dress you tried on in store has been tried on by lots of other brides so it is a bit stretched out whereas your dress is brand new so it feels smaller. Also, David's should definitely let you exchange your sash--at least the one I used to work at would! Good luck!

@jobu sadly that is not the case. This is the dress I tried on at DB so it should still fit. Thanks for the info on the sash though!

    Thanks ladies!!

@MrsB it's a nice feeling to love it again! I was stuck between 3 dresses when I went shopping and got this one because it was $250 compared to $1300 and $1500. I've been worried I made the wrong decision but I'm happy about it again!

Wow thanks! I did NOT think you'd reply!! I got this same dress and was also considering changing the neckline. Maybe even taking the lace off the bodice and just leaving it plain silk or satin. Did DB do your alteration?

I'm surprised I even got a notification honestly! No they didn't. I don't remember the reasoning as to why they wouldn't do it but I found an independent dress shop local to me and they did the alterations for super cheap. Basically they just put a few stitches in the middle of the neckline and cinched it. It obviously wasn't a super deep sweetheart but I still liked how it turned out, it gave it some more shape.
