Had 10 people back out at the last minute

Samantha, on August 27, 2014 at 5:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

So the wedding is Saturday and around 10 people have backed out of attending the reception...5 people from FH's family backed out today without reason. I'm just ready for this to be over

It might be a blessing in disguise. But whatever the reason, don't worry your pretty little head about it. You're getting MARRIED!!! :-D

Fuuuckkkkk.... I've only had 1 person back out. It's going to be fine though, as long as your FH is there, your wedding will be great!

GIRL!!! It happened to me too. Out of your control. Just be happy with the family and friends that do show up and support you. Some people do not understand. It's a damn shame, but it's true.

You feel like this today. You won't feel this way on your wedding day. Put them out of your head. Just do it.

Don't let family members manipulate you into wishing your wedding was over. I promise, you will not notice their absence. You will feel wonderful and pampered as you are turned into a beautiful bride. As you're surrounded by your bridal party, the excitement will build. You'll put on that gown, the jewelry, the shoes, and then you'll grab your bouquet and you'll walk down that aisle to music you've chosen. You will find yourself in the midst of an overwhelming experience. Take it all in as it's happening, Samantha. It's just magical. You'll move on to your reception, and all eyes will be on you. You'll take the spotlight and dance with your FH to the song that has a deeply personal meaning to the both of you. The last thing -- the very last thing -- on your mind will be ten people who stayed home. Then, get ready for the best party you've ever hosted.

Don't let anyone rob this moment from you, Samantha. Most brides want to relive their wedding day -- your day is still in front of you. This is a day you will remember decades from now. Focus on the people who are sharing it with you. The rest of them? Let them go. Then, get back here with the photos we're all dying to see.

I know the feeling... the venue let us hold off on final numbers until the Wednesday before to prevent any of this. We originally paid for 80 people. Wednesday, we paid for 4 more, making it 84. Then Friday before the wedding, we find out just by chance that 3 people would not be attending (down to 81). Then the day of, there were like 6 that just didn't show up (down to 75), and then 2 came that was not invited (up to 77). We were upset that we paid for 7 people that didn't attend at $97 per plate..... Do you know how many pairs of shoes I could of bought with that????? IJS.......

But, in the end, we were glad that all of the people that we loved and wanted to be there were, so those folks weren't even missed..... Sorry for the rant!!!! :-)

    My mantra lately:

If they don't want to be there, I don't want them there.

    Done and done.

It's going to be amazing and you'll have such a great time!

I feel you girly! The last 2 weeks I have had about ten people back out ....5 after they were paid for ... It stung a bit but I'm with Kylene on this one! Plus my mom said at her wedding 20% who rsvpd didn't show up she keeps telling me maybe I'm getting rid of that 20% earlier rather than later... Made me feel a bit better

That is so frustrating! No reason?! Gahhh ... I would want a reason, at least! Something reasonable for backing out of a wedding you RSVP'd for would be like, "my leg fell off and this is the only day the doctor could put it back on."

Just put it out of your head. it's ok Smiley smile

if I lived closer my groom and I would offer to fill up their seats lol. maybe not the classiest suggestion in the world, but do you know anyone that would understand and like to join in your day? like maybe someone from your market? I knew of a girl that has something like this happen. some 'have to invite' relatives bailed on her at the last minute.

so she asked @ dentist office or Dr office (I forget) if they were interested in joining the day. they put their names in a bowl and they drew names for who got to go to her wedding. a lot of them had been there and understood how this stuff works. they knew her and enjoyed wishing her well.

Well I told my DOC that the first people that showed up at the reception to let them in to fill the seats...might be a little tacky but oh well

That sucks!! Depending on where you live maybe you can invite some WW girls, they'll probably be your best guests!! If we have people back out that we've paid for, I'm going to invite brides on here in the area haha!!
