Guys in uniform

Christina, on August 14, 2019 at 9:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
FH will be having a 3 groomsmen. He told me he was wearing his dress blues (Army) for the ceremony. He said that has brother, best man, is wearing his dress blues also (Marines). One friend is wearing a suit. And another friend, his dress blues (Army).
Would this mishmosh of uniforms bother you?
I was fine with FH wearing his dress blues, but thought the other guys would wear suits.
I was thinking of trying to convince him to have the groomsmen all be in suits. What do you guys think?

My FH is wearing his dress blues as well. In my personal opinion your hubby should be the only one in uniform so he can stand out just a bit.

No offense to the other military guys, but it’s supposed to be about y’all. I just think they would be overdressed. Unless they all wear the same dress blues, but it sounds like not everyone is from the same branch or not military at all. Your hubby to be should be the one to stand out more than them.

I kind of wish my fiancé and his guys would do this, but they just want to wear regular tuxes. I really like the idea though.

I dont know what the groomsmen's financial situation is like, but just a heads up, people in the military (especially junior enlisted) dont make a lot of money. Depending what rank your groomsmen are, it might be financially better for them to wear their dress blues than to rent/buy a suit. Unless you're paying for their suit.

I think the mixed uniforms still look great. I would defer men's wear decisions to FH

This doesn't look bad, but the groom doesn't stand out AT ALL. If you and FH are good with that, let them wear the uniforms.

I would love if all of them wore their uniforms. It highlights each of their sacrifices and services to our country

I can see both sides of this. My military family background would say let them wearing their own dress blues. My perfectionist bridal side would say only the groom.

When a friend got married her husband was in the Air Force along with 2 of his 3 groomsmen. To not let the other feel left out, the groom wore his blues and all of the groomsmen wore suits.

While I believe that their sacrifices to protect our country are amazing and they should be able to wear those dress blues from time to time, I don’t think this is one of those times. I would let your FH decide, but if I was in your situation I would prefer FH to stand out in his and the rest to wear suits. I would also feel it would be awkward if the one guy is not in dress blues.
