Guitar/Violin pieces

Robert, on August 22, 2011 at 6:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

I would like to find a nice guitar and violin piece to walk down the aisle to, but I don't even know where to begin. I was thinking of walking down the aisle to Killswitch Engage's Inhale, which is just a solo guitar peice. Just it's not exactly what I'm looking for, considering the rest of the ceremony songs are going to be by vitamin string quartet. Anyone know of a beautiful guitar/violin piece they can recommend?

I LOVE Vitamin String Quartet. Are you looking for an instrumental of a popular song, or are you looking for pieces that were written instrumentally? (Canon in D is always really lovely on guitar.)

Are you having live music and need sheet music, or are you looking for a recording?

I'm doing Cannon in D but Air on G sounds really pretty as well!

November- Yes I'm looking for pieces that were written instrumentally. I do like Canon in D, but it's not quite what I'm looking.

    J&R S - We're looking for a recording.

    I guess I should've gave more information. :-)

I don't know if you have ever heard River Flows in You by Yiruma, but it is a beautiful piano piece - HOWEVER, I heard it played on acoustic guitar, and I think I'm addicted. That was on youtube, though, so I'm not sure if that really helps.

Maybe try searching on youtube.com for "acoustic guitar" if that's what you like?

Wanted to find a wedding march but really didn't want the traditional. I am going with alot of piano pieces for the ceremony. I found a beautiful piece on youtube by Jonathan Cain called Bridal March Extended. Also liked When I Say I Do by Mathew West.

I love VSQ as well! We're actually using one of their songs for our wedding, while mixing/matching other instrumental versions of popular songs into our ceremony (as I'm not a fan of the more "traditional" wedding ceremony tunes).

After a quick Google search, I found a few groups that meet your requirements -- maybe you could purchase a recording of one of their songs, rather than hiring them outright?

And here's a YouTube video for another duet of violin and acoustic guitar -- very pretty (plus, there's always related links on the side to help you continue looking if this isn't what you're into):

Hope that helps get you off and running with your songs!
