Guests/rsvps creating drama

Lisa, on January 30, 2020 at 1:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

Oh my! I have three stories.

One--my 2nd cousin is not married. She doesn't want to come alone or sit alone! Really?! The other cousins that she knows and knows they will be there are who I thought she would sit with. She asks if they think she could sit with them!? Really? Of course!

Second, my fiance asked for addresses of his club members. Well, we couldn't invite all--it seemed to be too many, and one wasn't so close--he had hardly seen him. Well, at their meeting the guy asks where his invitation is. Fiance forget he wasn't on the list anymore. I only have so many invitations to go out--I am saving one to put in a shadow box.

Third, my dad's family is a big one and pretty petty at times. The last aunt's birthday is a day before the wedding, and I heard in a round about way, that they are having a pizza party for her the day after my wedding. I wasn't invited. The person putting the party on is a cousin I thought I was on decent terms with. She sent her RSVP ASAP back saying no. Wow! The party is in town where my wedding is. Some of the family has RSVPed and others I am waiting for (they have a week).

I didn't know there would be so much drama with RSVPs! LOL! My fiance is worried we won't have the 150 that we are paying for. But, it is really too late to add new folks. I don't mind adding people who are already invited if they want to bring an extra guest. Too much drama!

    1. Maybe she is just self conscious and an introvert? I wouldn't worry! Maybe she assumed she would be at a singles table instead.

    2. Can you order a few more invitations?

    3. So weird!!! I think adults having birthday parties is sometimes a little ridiculous, but it's even MORE ridiculous to do it after your wedding and not invite you.

    1. Yes, I reassured her. I told her she is welcome to bring a guest and of course she can sit with family. I think she felt like she was imposing. No worries--and all is good now.

    2. It's down to the wire--I ordered my invitations and RSVPs are due back on the 7th. It is crazy.

    3. LOL! Yeah, that is the way it is. But, most other family members are coming.

Thank you for your advice! Almost been a year for you! Congratulations early!
