Guestbooks

People signed ours and I've never found it annoying to sign one; *however,* I discovered that we don't ever pull it out to look at lol.

Most of the time it’s near the card box so they’ll sign it when they drop the card. Some guests will need to be reminded to sign the book but not annoying at all.
You can always do an alternative guest book like signing any of your welcome signs (if you’re planning on having one). Or a photo book

We had a poster by the front door for people to sign. A lot of them did! I just got it framed and am deciding where to hang it up.

I've always signed the guest book at weddings I've attended, and never found it annoying! It takes me less than a minute to write a quick note saying congratulations and then sign my name.

People totally sign it! however like PP mentioned... it's whether you would look at it or not after.

There may be a few people who don't sign because they get distracted when they walk in, they plan to do it when the line dies down and forget, or whatever, but I don't think anyone finds it annoying. Like others have mentioned, there's plenty of alternatives to a traditional guest book. I was thinking of maybe doing a polaroid guest book so we can look back on pictures since I doubt I'll ever look at a regular one afterwards.

I made a photo book on Shutterfly with our engagement pics. I used that as our guest book. We had a good portion of our guest list sign it. Since it has our pictures in it I’ve gone back and looked at it a few times.

Honestly, I never the sign the ones that are meant for display because I have TERRIBLE handwriting. I sometimes sign the actual books, but often forget. I had a book, but I didn't really care if anyone signed it (plenty did). Whether it's a waste of money or not is entirely a personal decision and depends on your budget and priorities.

I actually like the guestbooks because it’s a good way of keeping track of who attended and they can often write very sweet messages that are memorable. We’re ditching the guestbook and we’re actually having The initial of our last name carved in wood where guest can sign freely.

It really depends on the type of the guestbook and your guests themselves. I was a guestbook attendant when I was younger at many weddings. From my experience, only 1/3 of guests signed, regardless of what type of guestbook or alternative and even with it being passed around the room and the dj making an announcement. Based on that, we decided not to bother with anything, though we did like the idea of having guests sign a photo matte.
