Guestbook sign wording?

Andrea, on August 12, 2019 at 2:31 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 4
Hi,

We're doing a guestbook that is a drawing of a redwood tree that will eventually hang on our wall. the idea is that guests will sign their names within the tree....on the branches, in the tree trunk, etc. And that the background (aka white space) won't have any signatures on it, but how do you ask guests to only sign on the tree and make it sound nice? (I know there's a good chance people will sign on the white background, but hoping by some miracle the guests won't).

Thanks!

Have a sign says “please sign our guestbook within the growing tree” and have it close to the guestbook so everyone will see it.

I really like this, but I might add the word "only" at the end...that way its more clear that you don't want people to sign the white space.

Could you mask out the white space? Maybe get a sheet of black paper that's as big as the drawing and roughly cut out the shape of the tree from it, then place that over three drawing like a mat. Even if there's some white space showing around the outline, it should discourage people from signing outside the tree.
