Guest transportation

Amanda, on April 13, 2021 at 9:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
We are getting married at a local inn in my hometown. The wedding will be 55 people if all show up. All overnight rooms at the venue have been blocked for our guests. There are 10 other inns within walking distance (under 5 minutes) thaf guests could stay at, but we can’t have a room block. There are a few hotels further away that we could secure another room block at, but guests would need to drive a couple of miles to the venue. I’d really rather not pay for their transportation, especially when they could stay at so many options close to the venue. Should we still provide a shuttle?

It’s not really expected for you to provide transport, esp for such a short distance. If they don’t want to drive they could uber or something.

Save your money. Guests can drive themselves or catch an Uber.

If you’ve reserved a block of rooms and they choose to stay elsewhere they can take a cab or Uber. No need to provide it for them.

There are very limited ubers or cabs in the area which was another issue I was thinking about. I’m leaning towards not providing transport, but wanted to hear it from independent sources. Thanks!

You don’t need to be a local bus service. If I go to a wedding and don’t want to worry about getting home and I see it’s at an inn, I will deliberately book the inn or something in walking distance

I agree with everyone else. Transportation isn't necessary at all in your situation since all accommodations are located close to the venue. I'd def. let them know that you have rooms blocked off at the first inn and that if all rooms are booked or they don't wish to stay there, there are other options. But make it known that the first option is preferred.
