Guest “surprises”

CourtneyBrittain, on June 30, 2019 at 6:39 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
I’ve started getting back RSVPs and have gotten a small handful of surprises. Most of my No’s I knew would be No’s, except one friend that sadly has her first week of work that same week and can’t get out of it.
On the plus side, I just got a Yes from my Great Uncle and Great Aunt who I haven’t seen literally in over a decade, how fun! Their RSVP message said “Surprise! Can’t wait to be at this big event”
How fun! Have you had any surprise Yes guests?

Most of my surprises are my out of town guests! My fiancé is American and In Canadian. We're having our wedding in South Carolina, and we were planning to have a second celebration up in Toronto, Canada where I'm from. I didnt expect a lot of people from up here to make it (especially if we're having another celebration and because South Carolina is so far), but more than I expected RSVP'ed "Yes"!

Awe how fun. That's cute they wrote that! Yes I have had six of my honey's "cousins" invite themselves from an invite they photo copied from another one of his cousins bc as you see that cousin was nice enough to share 😁🤔. My 1st cousin and her hubby excepted which shocked me. And my honeys cousin that he had a falling out with is coming with her hubby. The biggest let down is my honeys best friend is not coming as he and his wife seen aren't doing great.. I get it but he could still come and celebrate with us bc he was there from the beginning. Plus they have been best friends since kindergarten. But hey it will be an amazing day either way😁❤

Absolutely! My dad's aunt is coming which is a HUGE deal, and all of her kids! My FH's uncle & aunt are coming and we though they were a no (his family was kind of hoping they would be a no haha). But, my FH's close friends can't come because they already said yes to another wedding, and several of my close friends can't because of work. It is definitely hard getting the "no's" from your close friends, but that is life!

We had a few surprise "yes" RSVPs that were out of state and we didn't expect, so that was nice!

We're really hoping that my fiancé's grandma will be able to make it; but at 75 years old a cross country flight from San Diego to Baltimore may not be best for her. She's been on the fence and we've assured her that we'll respect any decision she makes. If she can make it, great! If not we'll make plans to come visit her again.
