Guest Parking Fees

Mrs. Libragurl, on March 5, 2009 at 1:37 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I am having my wedding at a very nice hotel in Baltimore. I have grappled with the issue of parking fees. the hotel charges $25 for parking per night. I would love to cover the cost but it is a huge expense for anywhere from 100-130 guests. Some say I should cover it...others say most hotels charge for parking so it should be expected. Any thoughts?

I would suggest you do whatever it is within yours means. I have a similar situation as yours and I'm not paying for parking fees for 2 nights for 100 something guests in at least 2 diff. hotels. And I doubt anyone will hold it against us. Good luck and congratulations on your wedding!

I agree. I'm in a similar situation. My ceremony location has limited parking, but there is a garage across the street that my guests can park in. Parking in the garage is something like $1.25 for an hour, however I expect about 250 guests so paying for guests to park is not in my budget. I have really struggled with this but I figure $1.25 isn't too much to ask guest to pay and I put the information on my wedding website so they know ahead of time.

Weddings can be expensive and I know I'm already well over budget. I think guests will understand having to pay for parking as long as they know ahead of time.

Exact same boat as you. The Inner Harbor is PRICEY for parking and our venue is $25, too. I was going to speak with the event coordinator to see about doing some kind of voucher for partial coverage, just to help out. We certainly can't afford to cover 140 guests. If that's not possible, they'll just have to cover it on thier own. We're already buying them dinner and drinks! Ha! Smiley smile

Wow I wrote this so long ago I forgot it existed! I decided not to cover parking,,,its just too much. Prepare your guests for the fact that there is a cost for parking...maybe something on your wedding web page and on an insert in the invite. That money racks up quickly!
