"Guest" on outside envelope or no?

MrsBest2B, on March 3, 2016 at 1:37 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Stupid question that's probably been asked before...

Do I need to put "Person I know and Guest" on the outside of the envelope that I'm mailing, or just put "We've reserved 2 seats for you" on the RSVP and they'll get it? I'm not doing inner envelopes.

Don't do the outer envelope. Stating the number of seats on the RSVP card is perfect for this situation.

ETA: If anyone is still confused, they can ask. But honestly, stating 2 seats should be enough to let them know.

I only put "and guest" on the inner envelope... if you aren't doing them and have "we've reserved 2 seats for you" on the response card, I think you'll be fine with out "and guest" on the outside envelope.

Can you call them and ask if they have an SO? I was "guest" on an envelope and I was super offended because I knew and was friends with the couple. Can you Facebook snoop? I only did "and guest" on ONE envelope (I didn't do inside envelopes either). It was for the best man and we weren't sure if he was still with his last gf or not.

Thanks! Anyone that is "guest" has no significant other that I'd know of. There are a few of those. A few summers ago I received an "and guest" invite and FH and was super offended. We weren't engaged yet, but had lived together forever and were together longer than the couple getting married! He actually made some snide remark to them on the rsvp lol

Definitely stick with the RSVP card, or, if they have a significant other, you can call/Facebook to see what the persons name is. We did our best to get everyone's names because I have been "and guest" before and it was weird lol
