Me and my fiancé are starting to work on our guest list, and I want to know how many of you are going to do a seating chart? Or if it is a good idea to do one?

I don't want one and I don't want the stress of doing one. Our group is tight knit. They all know each other and are adults.

FH does want one and so he will be doing the seating chart. I'll look it over and sign off, but that was our compromise on it. Fair enough since I've been the major planner with everything else and then he signs off on whatever it is.

It's true, a chart that assigns people just tables works perfectly. I went to a wedding where there was no seating chart at all and no one knew where to sit so everyone just kept standing around. There'd be a couple people at a table, but no space for a table for my group of friends (who would have just taken up one table)

This is what we are doing to! I will be printing a poster-style chart that will be in an easel during cocktail hour so guests know which table to go to. I downloaded a template from Etsy and will make it a week or two before the wedding once final count has been turned in to the venue

I'm having a small wedding, 65 people or less when the rsvp come in. I don't feel that a seating chart provides anything for such a small group and my venue can seat way more than that so I'm not worried about extra chairs, I also don't have to pay to rent chairs as my venue provides them up to capacity.
If I had a larger guest list or had to pay per chair I would do table assignment but chair assignments seem either too juvinille or too upscale for me to ever justify unless there's over 150 people. I think once you get over 150 it's too large of a group and everyone needs directions
