Guest list

Jackie, on January 21, 2020 at 7:44 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
I did a mock up of our guest list and if everyone comes to the wedding we are looking at 210. The venue room we picked only holds 140. Most the the guest are from out of town. So I’m trying to figure out how many I need to cut or if I should just invite everyone and hope not people don’t come. Help?!?!

You should assume that every person you invite will attend. Of course they won't, but there's absolutely no way of knowing who or how many will decline.

140 and 210 is a huge difference. You need to find a bigger venue because there are probably fire codes involved with the number of people in attendance and you dont want to risk that. They say about 80% of folks RSVP yes. That's still 168. You gotta find a bigger place.

They lucky have different rooms that hold more people. We just wanted this room because it has a patio off of the room

I think we are going to send out some invitations and see what happens when they come back and if we aren’t at 140 we will send out more

This is B listing and it's incredibly rude. Invite the amount that you can fit or find a venue that fits your entire guest list.

    I agree .. that’s a huge difference and I wouldn’t play around guessing about it - I would find a bigger place

The first guest list my FH and I made had around 230 people on it. After we saw that number we decided to cut people out. The way we did that was looking at the list and if we hadn't spoken to or hung out with them within the last year, we would not invite them.

I will say, if you plan on not cutting your list in half you're going to need a bigger venue. We planned our wedding with the thought that everyone we would invite would attend; even though we knew that wasn't true b/c some people we invited we knew wouldn't come for medical reasons, or they could not travel but we wanted to invite them anyway.

I agree, you either need to cut your guest list, or find a bigger venue.

Whatever you do, do NOT invite all of those people. You have 2 options:

    1) get a bigger venue
    2) cut the guest list back close to 140 (remember this includes you, your bridal party, and your vendors, too)

I would definitely get a bigger venue.

We are inviting 160 (expecting 120 to come) and our venue holds 200 supposedly.

I think if its a full house it makes it difficult to get around the venue and the dance floor is usually packed, so my rule of thumb is to go with a venue with a slightly larger capacity than what you actually need.

We are inviting 208 (ourselves included) with a 200 person capacity. We already know 3 will not be attending and even so we are only pushing those 5 extras because we spoke with our venue who gave us permission to do so. Had we not, I would’ve cut our guest list back and only invited 200. Cut your list or choose a new venue.

Due to a spreadsheet issue, we accidentally invited 285 people to a 240 capacity venue. We are in the super early stages of getting RSVPs back, and it's a bit stressful. I wouldn't recommend.
