Guest List

Alicia, on September 11, 2019 at 6:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
So FH a ND I are getting married July 11, 2020. We are working on our guest list and so far there are more my family/friends then his. I come from a medium sized family and hus is smaller. I feel weird that there will be more people I know at our wedding then he does. Anybody run into this issue?

My husband's family guest list was much larger than mine due to almost his entire extended family being local. I only had immediate family attending one my side, in addition to an aunt and my godmother who traveled internationally to be there. We tried to be fair by having a somewhat even guest list and, because of this disparity, I ended up inviting far more of my friends than he did. 😅

We are about even but if you are worried about how the seating will look with splitting sides of the room maybe you can seat more of your mutual friends on his side to even things out.

My fiancé has a huge family and a lot of friends. My list is only about 20 but the full list will about 75. We will have uneven bridal parties 7 and 4. We’re planning on having one of these types of signs for the ceremony.

It’s important to remember that every single person there is a guest for both of you, not just one of you. They’re all coming to support you both as a couple. Not individually.

For sure! He has a small family and mine is huge! I will have literally 4 times the amount of guests as him

My fiancé has the tiniest guest list and I have a huge one. I feel bad but he just has a small family and I have a big one, plus I chose to invite more friends than he did since a lot of his friends are military and scattered. I hope he doesn’t get a bunch of declines because then I’ll feel even worse.

A friend of mine comes from a huge Catholic Irish family- at least 8 aunts/uncles on each side minimum. Her husband on the other hand had a small family- 10 people in total. Since his parents were contributing towards the venue and catering bills, she let them invite a few more people to beef up their sides.

It really all comes down to budget, venue space, and who is contributing.

Same here. Fiance doesnt seem to mind and my parents are contributing financially where his are not. I think its fine, we're having a smaller wedding with about 80 people so about 50 of my side and 30 of his. I doubt it will be noticable.

We wrote our lists out he is at 101 I'm at 260 😖😖😖. It's only supposed to be 300 guests I don't know how to cut anyone. In fact people I love have been forgotten and had to be added. I told him 150 and I get 150. But I'm over and he is under and when we initially talked about it he thought our positions would be reversed he would use some of my guests. I laughed at him because I have 7 aunts and uncles on both sides my parents are from big families and we are actually close. I'm stressing out already and our wedding isnt until july 25th

Yes I have about 160 people on my side and 40 on his. We dont seem to have any issues with it. We dont have a seating chart or anything so I think it will be alright
