How many brides are allowing children to be at the reception? My fiancé and I both have large families & I’m trying to condense the guest list to a reasonable amount. Would it be harsh of me to put no children allowed at the wedding/reception if they are not participating in the wedding?

I do think its worth considering your guests - if many of your guests have young children and are traveling for your wedding it may be near impossible for them to find childcare. Only a handful of the people on our guest list had small children and nearly all of them have family in the area, so it isn't a huge inconvenience for them. We also put "Invited guests only. Please no children." on our wedding website from the beginning so parents who want to come to our wedding have ample notice plenty of time to make arrangements.

We are having kids at both our ceremony and our reception. We have a 10 year old, and several of my cousins have kids around the same age. The kids have always been really close to us so it just didn't feel right not inviting them along with their parents. Our caterer has an option for kids so it definitely helps out!
