Guest list Rsvps way less than expected

Michelle, on February 1, 2018 at 9:37 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
My fiancé and I invited almost 200 guests to our wedding but now final day we have about 132 way under what expected I invited a lot less people than him because I was worried more people would RSVP. I am specifically regretting not inviting about five of my friends that I made this year climbing the worlds tallest freestanding mountain. Would it be rude to invite them last minute? I asked my fiance at the time I got back from my trip and we agreed against it to keep guest count blow 150. We have room for them at the tables now and the only reason I didn’t invite them before was to save money which apparently was only my concern because my fiancé now says that I could have invited anyone I wanted but at the time I was really trying hard to keep the guest count down to save money since we pay per person.

Yes it’s rude to invite people this close to the wedding.

If it's before your RSVP Date you may be able to get away with it otherwise if it's past you can't send an invite with deadline date that passed-- it would make them feel like they were on the "B" list.

If the invite doesn't include an RSVP date (separate RSVP card), I'd send it. And if your website is the used for RSVPs change the date. Dont make it obvious they werent invited.

My fiance and I received an invite to a wedding the day before (Friday wedding btw) via text message. To be honest, we would have gone, but we were leaving for our vacation that weekend and already had plans in place.

Too late, unfortunately, it is rude to B list people. There is a greater chance you will offend people and damage the relationships by B listing them instead of just not inviting them.

If your wedding is really in 10 days this is past the point of “B-listing” ...

With ten days until your wedding, it's way too late to invite anyone else.

If these are friends you made climbing a mountain that isn't even in the US, do these people you want to invite at the last minute even live in the US? Do they live in your state? Ten days notice for a wedding where it seems people might have to travel would be downright inconsiderate and would look gift grabby because there's no chance they would be able to drop everything, book a last minute flight, and be at your wedding.

They live in california. I didnt invite them before because it was after the rsvp date but invites were lost in the mail and my fiance wanted to wait for rsvps. I hear that its rude. I am sad my fiance has so many more friends and family coming. He invited 100 i invited 79.

You shouldn’t be replacing groomsmen either.

Have you already committed 200 to your caterer? If not, you're not losing out financially.

So then you just have one less groomsman. Sides don’t need to be even.
