Guest list - average “no”

Meghan, on September 17, 2020 at 11:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
So we’re starting to go over our guest list and curious on what’s the average “no” you reserved. We are getting married in fall 2021 and put 175 on our contract (were told it’s better to add more later in case we get no’s as we can’t go down in Guest number put on contract).

Right now we plan on inviting about 211. Just curious is there’s an approximate amount of “no’s” we should expect.

I believe the average is usually 15-20%.

We have 6 declines out of 40, with 10 that haven't responded yet, but I'm pretty sure most of those will be attending.

Usually, you'll get some "no"'s, but also be prepared for 100% to say "yes", since it does happen sometimes.

I think the average is 15%-20% as well. We actually had a 35ish% decrease with our no’s. That’s because of covid. Out of state family can’t travel, people who are pregnant or have little ones want to be more safe then sorry. All which I understand? We invited 125, and had 80 yes’s

There really isn't an average, but you should be prepared for everyone to attend that way you have enough money to cover all of your costs.

I don't think there's an average, as so many different factors come into play. Our wedding was last summer and we had WAY more declines than we had initially expected. But some people don't have any declines at all, so it's hard to say.

We invited 215 and expected about 175-180. Our RSVP deadline is today and so far we have 104 Yes, 48 No, and waiting on 63 replies still. I'm thinking we will actually end up around 135 which is a lot less than I expected but it was hard to judge with COVID and I'm actually feeling relieved. I'm sitting here saying bring on the No's keep them coming lol!

I've seen 50% declines and also 0 declines. Don't invite over your capacity!

I think the no's maybe a little higher due to COVID. Some people just aren't ready to be in a room with so many people.

Always prepare for 100% attendance because it does happen.

My first wedding years ago I was surprised to get a single decline and was told that it's more common than people lead you to believe. With most of the same guests on my side this time, we're expecting the same.

I think that with Covid being a thing it definitely varies. Especially since no one knows what will happen or when it will be under control.
