Just Said Yes September 2020

Guest hotel

We are getting married September 26, 2020. Our venue is about 45 minutes away for most of the guests. Does is make sense to block hotel rooms for guests to book than we would provide a bus that would be able to transport our guests to and from the venue? The majority of our guests will drink and want to have a good time. However, the closest hotel is about 20 minutes away from the venue (20-25 minutes away from guests homes). There is also an option to do cabin rentals at the campground that is closer, but than guests need to worry about linens and not all the cabins have a bathroom. Do you think most guests would thing it's dumb to stay in a hotel that close to home and rather not spend the money or be thankful that they'd have the opportunity to not drink and drive?

I think a lot would like to stay in a hotel. Can you book the bus and then cancel if you find out that you don't have enough people to make it worth it?

If the hotel offers a complimentary room block, it couldn’t hurt to do it. We probably wouldn’t book a hotel that close to home, but other people might!

I would do the block to see if people book it, then base transportation on that! I assume some guests will use it!

You can book the block and have it as an option for guests!

I would say that being as accommodating as possible in a few different directions, while still giving them the option ultimately is a great route.

    Block some hotel rooms
    Block some cabin rentals
(Most places do not require any deposit, rather keep rooms blocked until a certain date before opening up to general public.)
Book a shuttle for whomever may want to take it rather than drive
Maybe look into a Lyft/uber code as well.
Maybe also look into some Airbnbs close by and include links to their locations

Put all this info on your wedding website under accommodations tab

Print invited to say " for all details please visit our wedding website at ......@......)

This way everyone can choose what's right for them.

We booked a hotel because we knew most of our local guests were going to want to stay the night.
