Guest count... too few?

We drafted our guest list of 110 right after we got engaged because we wanted to start touring venues. We found one we LOVE with a 100 guest minimum, but when I reviewed our list I don’t know wtf we were thinking; in our excitement, we included people we barely talk to anymore! Our list is actually closer to 90 and we know to expect 10-20% declines (leaving appx. 72-81 guests). We can still use the venue and pay the difference for the 100 guest minimum, but my fear is how empty it may look with potentially 72 people in a room meant for 100-250. The owner said he can fill space with lounge furniture to make it feel fuller, but that just sounds like more empty seats to me.

Am I overthinking this? Should we keep our list as is, invite extra people to fill it up since we’d be paying for it anyway, or just find a new venue since we haven't booked yet? Are there ways to fill space besides lounge furniture? It would look like the pics below with the dance floor in between.

If you don't hit the minimum, ask the venue if they would throw in something like an extra app, or a late night snack. Maybe if they charge for cake cutting they could wave that etc. I would still give every guest a plus one, you have the space and it is polite. You might not want to invite kids, but you could now since you have the space.

Awesome! Thanks for being receptive to advice!

And I'm a Nassau County bride as well - happy planning!!! Have you picked out any other vendors yet? I have everyone booked except the officiant (currently in talks), MUA and hairstylist.

@gymrat We have nothing else yet, but I've looked up the reviews on our venue's preferred vendors (we'd get a discount for hiring them) and they seem wonderful so I'm hoping that will work out for us; that would include the florist, bakery (though the cake price is included unless we want to upgrade), and entertainment for the entire wedding (strings for ceremony, pianist for cocktail hour, dj for reception). My FH is hoping to use Captain Arnold as our officiant, so I'll be reaching out to him as well. Also, my best friend/MOH is a professional hair stylist and MUA (I will NOT be hiring her.. I know the rules, I've been lurking lol) but I'm sure she'll have some excellent recommendations on that. So nothing is booked yet, but lots of good leads!
