Guest Count Low

Erika, on August 14, 2019 at 7:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
To we invited 120 to our wedding reception and it looks like about 80 will be there. We have a 100 person minimum and well I'm panicking ☹

You can move to your b list and invite some people you couldn’t invite in the first round.

We only have 3 weeks left. Is that enough time?

Are there any food or drinks you can add? Usually it’s a dollar minimum more than guest minimum. So upgrading the bar or cocktail hour might work.

Oh that’s cutting it close. You’ll have to personally deliver the invitations right away or invite people thru a phone call if you don’t think they’ll mind. Another option you have is to negotiate with the venue. You can pay for the 100 people and only have 80 so see if the extra money you’re putting for those 20 people instead of using for food, extra tables, decor, chairs can be use to add something in the candy table or upgrade the cake, or extra time, an add on somewhere that in the end you’re paying for and it won’t go to waste.

The venue is all inclusive but maybe we can upgrade something. Thank you for the idea!

I would definitely look into upgrading to make up for the extra 20 people. Better to lavish those who can make it with a "higher quality" experience than to try to simply fill the seats!

Most places you can upgrade your liquor or your menu. Add more appetizers or a dessert bar or something.

First, make sure you talk to your venue! You really need to clear everything with them. A couple of upgrades may not do the trick. So talk to the venue and discuss what your options are. Some venues are really particular but i'm sure they've had this issue before with other clients.

You can try and invite people who are close to the venue or that you see often enough so they don't have to send back an invitation in the mail like coworkers and neighbors.

You can't just opt to spend more on the 80 guests?
