guest count for bridal shower?

Jessica, on July 13, 2017 at 6:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

All the women invited to my wedding were invited to the shower and that happens to be just under 70 people... About how many can we expect, knowing that about a third of them are more distant relatives on FH's side? I already have 13 coming and 5 not coming.

Everything's being taken care of my my MOH, mom, and FMIL, but I guess I want to just know what to expect whether there will be a big crowd or not. We got moved into a larger room at the venue and it's beautiful but I'm worried it'll look like everything is overdone if like 20 people come.

There is no way to know until the RSVPs come in. It could be all 70 or it could be 4. It's impossible to guess.

There's no way for us to tell you how many people will come...

It depends on when it is and how close most of them live and such, but my guess would be somewhere around 40 people showing up!

Yeah I realize that, I'm just wondering what percentage usually comes... I'm worried about the big room being awkward if not a lot of people come

That's a very large number to be invited. Typically a shower is a more intimate party with closest female friends and family only, not all women on the wedding guests list. In any case, you will just have to wait until RSVPs come in.

We invited about 70. My shower is next weekend and my MOH hasn't had many rsvps , yet anyway. It's hard to tell. Either way, I'm sure it'll be a great time!

67.78% usually come, according to my super scientific crystal ball.

@Emily my FMIL insisted all the women invited to the wedding be invited. Everyone that's gotten married in FH's family in the past few years. as well as other people's weddings I've been invited to locally have also done this, so I'm not sure if it's the thing to do around here-- I've heard of it being several different ways.

@Kelly, is your MOH going to call people to see who's coming? I hope you have fun!!

@futureMrsE haha thanks... I guess I'll stop worrying, I just wasn't sure if I should suggest that we go back to a smaller room but I don't want to complicate things more

My initial list of guests was 40, but only 13 RSVP'D on time. So you can never really tell. They wanted to RSVP after the deadline..so no...my MOH is proceeding with who responded on time. I'm looking forward to my little shower ❣
