Guest books...are they. Necessary at showers?

I haven't been to a shower without a guestbook, but I also haven't been to very many showers, yet. I will say if you plan to just do a traditional guest book, you could reuse the same guestbook. However, if you plan to do an artsy guestbook I.e. Guests sign a leaf on a tree or thumbprint art you may want to do that for the wedding and something else for the shower. There are lots of ideas for guestbooks, but I don't think in most cases you have to have more than one.

I've never seen one at a shower. I think you can definitely skip that. Maybe just get a group photo to remember who all was there.

I have never seen a guest book at the shower. Whoever is throwing it should have a list of the people that came and also the cards should tell you who was there and who to thank. FH and I really liked the idea of doing a time capsule with advice and wishes for us to open on our one year anniversary so I guess it's kind of like a guest book, but different and for the future.

My girls are putting a cute vase together for my guests to sign at the shower. I think it's a personal choice.

I had one at my shower but like 3 people signed it. I'd either skip it or do the same one as the wedding.
