Guest Book?

Pat, on November 1, 2022 at 9:26 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

Is a Guest Book necessary at the Wedding Reception? I mean, it's not like we are having hundreds of people and we won't remember who was or wasn't there. What is it good for? What do you do with it after? We really have no room for any more decorations/momentos in our home.

I didn’t have one at my September wedding and haven’t missed it at all.

We didn’t have one. I consider our photo album to be our “guestbook”.

I didn’t have one. To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I even signed one at a wedding I’ve attended. Definitely something you can skip if you would like to.

That is what I was thinking, especially since we are having a Photo Booth and will get copies of all the pictures.

If you have a photobooth attendant you Could get a photo album that allows people to write a little message. Or have them write it on the back of picture if you really wanted. I agree with the others, who knows the last time I signed a guest book. Lol

We had one. It's shoved in a cabinet and I couldn't tell you the last time I looked at it - luckily, we didn't spend too much money on it.

You could do something non-traditional though - for my nephew's baby shower, they did a thumb print lamb (obviously you wouldn't do exactly that, but you could do something similar).

I'm not married yet but my plan is to use our engagement photos for a guest book/photo book (hardbound, lay flat, linen cover) with white space for guests to sign.

We did our engagement photos in Santorini so I was going to have a book made either way. If no one signs, it's no big deal.

I received some great recommendations on companies here - I didn't want to buy something that would gather dust later.

We’re doing an “alternative” guest book. We found this on Etsy, and we’re having guests sign the book bindings. Since we’re having two receptions, we are bringing it to our second one on the east coast and having them all sign it as well. We got to pick the little extras that are on top (our dogs, champagne, tea (me) and coffee (him) and a movie reel (things we love to do together)) I’m making a sign for it that says “Love isn’t the only thing that’s binding. Pick a book, sign your name, and become a permanent part of our library!” I’m a huge book lover and our home office doubles as our library. This will be framed and put up in that room!Guest Book? 1

Speaking as someone who used to be a guestbook attendant for years, I personally don’t see the point in them. Getting guests to sign whatever option the couple has chosen is like pulling teeth, whether you have the dj announce it or have the guestbook attendant take the book/alternative around the room. We are not having anything substituted either.

Our plan was to greet guests as they arrived for cocktail hour and take a picture with them with a digital Kodak camera that printed an instant picture, which would go in the guest book. The camera also saved the pictures to a memory card, and we were going to get the pictures printed and send them out with our thank you notes. Bought the camera, extra film, and paid for a guest book that would allow each guest/ group of guests to have their own page with their picture. On the day of, nobody charged the camera so it went to waste 🤦‍♀️
