Guest book or 'Family Tree'

Kimi k., on January 20, 2011 at 11:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

I want something unique that we keep as a keepsake (keep out/frame). Does this seem too corny?

We are doing the thumbprint tree as well

This is a project that can be done without having to buy the picture from someone.

If you do a google search, select images. type in large thumbprint tree.

There are tons of pictures. Save the picture to your computer, print it up on regular sized paper and bring that copied picture in to Kinkos. Staples, that's what we did.

Staples made us a 24X30 POSTER of the tree and added our names and date , went to Walmart and bought a poster frame and mat for it and the green, orange, yellow stamp pads.

IN total this project cost us under $40.00.

I think it's neat. This is our 2nd marriage (for both of us) and as we have grown older we have a tight knit group of friends. I want something we can display on a day to day basis...

The only thing I worry about is how the guests will 'clean' their finger afterwards...lol. I guess we could have an attendant with a wet cloth...or some individual 'wipeys'???

Here is the picture that we used.

Staples. simply changed the names at the bottom and the date.

    Hope this helps

The tree will hold between 180-200 thumbprints

    FMrs Cooper

The ink pads to buy are the waterbased ones.

Make sure you buy the correct ones, and have a pack of baby wipes next to the ink pads.....

With the wipes the ink washes off immediately.

We tried them, I didn't want 200 of my closest friends and family walking around with green, orange and yellow thumbs all night.

I really want to do this too, but my man wants a map of the world so people can sing in place where they're from. We will have guests from all over the globe so it is a good idea and now I don't know what to do...

I've seen this done with babies too. When people come to visit a new baby, the guests will add their thumbprint to the tree. I love it.

I love that idea. I wanted to go with something other than just the guest book so we are doing the whole sign on the mat around the picture thing
