Guest book options

Jessy, on June 15, 2020 at 1:09 AM Posted in Style and Décor 2 13
I am going through with our wedding in September.
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for a guest book with the Covid I am trying to figure out a less way to spread germs.
I was thinking a regular guest book but with disposable pens ? Please let me know if you have other ideas. Thank you !

There are the guest books where guests take a photo of themselves and put it in a scrapbook. You could always have someone stationed to take the photos of the guests so that they don’t have to touch the camera, etc.

You could just put out germ-X or hand sanitation wipes, but also like the above idea with the camera! We attended a wedding like this - it turned out lovely!

Yeah I’ve seen people have Polaroid guest books so I figured if you actually have a bridal party member or whatever for instance, stationed there and just be in charge of it, at least that would mean no one else is really touching it

Buy some pens at dollar tree and put a sign up asking guests to toss them when done to prevent the spread of germs! or, if you guys have a planner, you guys could keep out a few different pens and she could sanitize them between uses/ask guests to sanitize their hands. i also love the polaroid idea stated above - what a good way to repurpose something you already have 😊 dont stress, you have so many options! best of luck to you.

We are doing a canvas with our names and wedding date on it and people will be able to sign with metallic sharpies.
Mind you our wedding before covid was only going to be 60 people and most of them are family members.
I like your idea of not reusing the same pen. Maybe instead of throwing them away they could keep it? Or have them at the seats individually with a card that they could write on and drop in a box to be put together at a later date for your guestbook, kinda like a scrapbook of sorts?

If you want to have to avoid reusing pens you could probably have a box where people can “dispose” of the pens but then clean them after the wedding. I don’t think you actually need to waste them! We did a Polaroid guest book and it was fun - we had people sign in all different color sharpies. You could buy a huge pack of markers and have people pick one and “dispose” of it so you’ll end up with a bunch of different colors! You could provide clorox wipes for the camera so people can wipe it down before they take their pics. You could also have a box to collect the Polaroid’s instead of a physical book (could glue them in later) if you really want to avoid people touching stuff.

With all the things people will touch throughout a wedding with other guests, I don't think a pen and guestbook is any more problematic than anything else. Hopefully guests will wash their hands frequently (!) as a matter of course, but since viruses don't infect through the skin, touching a pen that someone else touched is much less dangerous than standing close to and conversing with people.

At all weddings, some sign the guest book (whether it's a book or not) and some don't. I would choose the one you like and then don't worry about it any more.

The virus can live on surfaces, but not at levels that are likely to infect anyone. That being said, people are nervous about touching shared items right now. I think a cute way to handle this would be to have pens printed with your names/wedding date on them. You can put out a sign telling people to sign the guest book and then take their pen. With a lot of things everyone says not to put your names/dates on them, but people use logoed pens all the time so it's not weird.
With the Polaroid, if you don't want to make someone watch it the whole time, you could put a thing of bleach wipes with it and a note asking your guests to wipe it down after each use,the way you do with machines at the gym.

You can have enough pens for each guest to keep one?! Or just have sanitizer available for them to use after signing the guest book.
