Guest Book Frame - Writing on Matte Portion?

Madison, on May 13, 2019 at 11:38 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

My FH and I got a few frames that have a large white matte border around an 8x10 photo. We are using them as our "Guest Book" and will eventually put wedding photos in the picture part. We are unsure of what kinds of pens would work well on the matte portion that wouldn't bleed when people write on them. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Maybe acrylic paint pens? You can look for ones that are meant for specific surfaces. I would try to test one if you can before the wedding.

Oh that's a good suggestion! We definitely plan on testing on a small corner/back of the matte frame to make sure it looks good before using it.

When we were trying to find the "right" pens for daughter's Jenga block guestbook, we went to Michael's with one of the blocks. Our stores have a huge display with all their various markers and pens in open bins, arranged by type/tip size/color/etc. We just tested a bunch of them on the block until she found exactly what she wanted, then we bought four of them!

Thin point Sharpies work great on those materials.

Thank you! I was worried that Sharpie's might bleed through but sounds like they might be the way to go!

The ultra-fine sharpies are great on matte borders! We used to use them for cast party pictures for the shows I've been in. They don't need to be primed like paint pens do, either.

Sharpies or Micron pens!! Both found at craft stores or Amazon.
