Guest book attendant

Southernbabe, on August 24, 2017 at 4:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Is there a such thing as a guest book and gift table attendant? Someone who stands by the guest book ad gift table and greet the people as they come in the door? Has anyone else had that idea or is going to have that at their wedding?

It's a horrible job. No one needs to be told how to sign a book.

My family does this. We've asked our niece to help with it. She's responsible for making sure the guestbook makes it to the reception site from the church. That's about it.

Most people know how to sign a book.

Oh goodness, You really could have combined this with your other post, pretty similar topic.

And to answer your question: No.

We have someone doing it but they're more of a greeter/hand out programs if we end up buying any/direct people where to go/let them know to sit wherever they'd like kind of person and he is the groomswoman's 14 year old son. We wanted a way to include him but he is a lot older than the flower kids.

Depending on your wedding, having someone is sometimes helpful. Last wedding I went to it was helpful to have someone tell my group "sign the guestbook later and get your butt upstairs before you miss it." Most of the time though, it's unnecessary and the person doesn't feel more included in your wedding as you might have intended. They'd rather be with friends and family.

I think that's old timey. I've never heard of anyone doing that after my mothers generation. I could be wrong though. Honestly I would feel bad for whoever had to stand watch because they are left out of the fun. Edit: I guess I should say after the 80s? So it doesn't sound like I'm refereing to actual age. Sorry guys!

I had that job, along with handing out the programs, once. I know they were trying to make me feel included but it was weird because I didn't know a lot of the people that came (who wants to be greeted by a total stranger anyways?) It was also annoying because I was then, one of the last people into the ceremony and had to sit by myself. So I felt more excluded than included.

My future sister in law is keeping an eye on the gift table, just as a precaution. She's not greeting guests, but volunteered to stand near by. This was suggested by our venue.

We are doing a polaroid guest book, so we will have someone available to help out when needed (change film, make sure everyone is in frame, etc). We will probably ask someone to keep an eye on our gift table as well.

My brother's (who is a groomsman) girlfriend actually volunteered to do it because she said she'd rather be busy while I finish getting ready and while we take pictures with the bridal party. She said she'd feel uncomfortable mingling without my brother because well also start family pictures (she'll join for these though so she really won't be there long). We accepted it graciously and got her a thank you gift but definitely not necessary.

As long as your card box has a lock and is in a safe place, don't assign someone this job!

We're putting the guest book table by the bar. No one one will miss it there! Done deal. Our bar is right when you walk in to our venue. We're encouraging pregaming before the ceremony. Our bartender will be greeting folks. Ys know thr way bsrtnders do.
