Guest Book Alternative....

My fiancé and I have been constantly bouncing back-and-forth ideas on what we want to do for our guest book. Initially we wanted to do the Polaroids, but it’s just too much of a hassle. We both love chess so we were going to do a chessboard signing.
But my fiancé came up with a really awesome idea of having everyone sign one of his guitars. He has 13 and it’s not like it’s one of his super expensive ones, but it is the guitar that his father gave to him when he graduated high school. I love this idea because music is a major part of our lives. We are both musicians and is also the main reason of why we connected over 10 years ago and majority of our guests are also musicians. I’m really excited about this. Is anyone else doing a unique guest book signing? I’d love to hear what everyone else is doing

    I think that's a really cool idea!! Meaningful to you both, and it's something you already have, so it saves on additional cost. The chessboard idea would have been a fun one too, very unique! My fiance and I are doing a photo guest book because we love looking at pictures, but we're also learning that there are some logistics that we need to figure out ahead of time, so currently trying to iron out some of those details.

    My husband is a huge sports fan and one of his only requests for our wedding was our guest book. He wanted one hockey jersey and one baseball so that's what we did.

    Thanks! I hear you about those logistics! We were looking at the Fuji instantpix initially, but it’s pretty expensive. Also we were initially trying to figure out if our guests would tape their photo in the guestbook and then sign, but I feel like with our guests, that would be a whole set of instructions for them that they probably won’t even read LOL. So that’s why we opted out. Do you guys plan on doing that or having them put the photos a basket?

    We're doing something similar - by which I mean, something we already have.

    We're big (amateur) astronomy buffs and just generally are mesmerized by space and everything to do with it. We have several space photography coffee table books.

    So, we're going to pick one of our books, and ask guests to pick any page they like and sign it. After, we'll go through to find them. I think it'll be fun to see which pages people pick.

    That’s awesome!!!! We have a telescope but I still have no idea how to use it, lol we look in it and all we see is black nothing... and yes the cover is off haha 😂. But Space is super cool and that’s awesome that you and your SO are into that!!!!

    We’re doing a custom beauty and the beast guestbook. That’s my favorite princess and the theme for our wedding. Also our personalities are reminiscent of Belle and beast. I’m a nerd and bookworm and he’s a big gentle kindhearted loving giant.

    we had some really nice wines at home that we've been wanting to have an excuse to drink so we just changed the labels and got guests to sign them! We will drink the bottles for 1st and 5th year anniversaries!Guest Book Alternative.... 1

    This is what we're doing! But instead of custom labels (those are too cute) they are bottles from the venue (which is a vineyard). We're also doing a few more - 1, 5, 10 and 25 - and the 25 will be a bottle of whisky.

    The guitar sounds like a great idea! We are doing a whiskey barrel lid since whiskey is our go to hard alcohol.

    We had downsized our guestlist quite a bit so we knew 1&5 years would be more than enough, but we wish we had at least a 10 year bottle!!

    Totally makes sense! I think we're going to provide photo tape/glue for everyone and I'm hoping they'll figure it out, but the biggest thing I'm worried about is how the film will be replaced once a camera runs out. I thought about having our ushers monitor the table and replace the film as needed, or we're also considering having a sign with instructions on how to replace the film and letting guests figure it out, but I'm sure we'll find a way to make it work!

    That is a great idea! i always wanted something that i could display. i didn't like the idea of a guest book you'd just put away. so i got some canvases and my friend painted the tree for me. it's now displayed in my bedroom.

    I think we're either going the route of fabric squares to make a quilt or I might see about us making a bench of some kind for people to sign! I think it would be a fun one!

    I love the guitar idea!

    Ours isn't super unique, but I wanted something that could be incorporated into our home décor easily (not just something that sits in a drawer and never gets looked at, or takes up awkward space on a shelf) so I designed a wall art piece. We ended up having a Covid elopement and are doing our wedding celebration a year later, so ours is a photo from our elopement with a wide border that people will sign and write messages on. I really wanted something that acknowledged the two dates, because I didn't want people signing something that was a different date then the event they attended, but I also didn't want to not acknowledge that we were actually married on separate day more than a year earlier. So it says "On [old date] we said "I do" but we waited a year to celebrate with you" above the image and then has our names, the date of our wedding celebration, and location below it. I custom designed it because I couldn't find anything out there like that.
