Growler Centerpieces - Rustic or Trashy?

Aubrey, on October 4, 2018 at 8:12 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 27

I am a huge craft beer person. I have dragged my fiancé to probably hundreds of breweries. Everyone who knows me knows how much the two of us love beer. One of my friends suggested that we put all the growlers we have to use and use them as vases for some babies breath or babies breath + other flower for our reception centerpieces.

Something to consider: My growlers are from all different breweries (we currently have 10 growlers and I think we will have 12 tables) but they are all different sizes - some are small and hold two glasses of beer and some hold a gallon.

Our venue is a beautifully redone 4H camp - gleaming hardwood, a lake outside. It will be an October wedding. It will not be super super fancy. I want it to have the feel of a more elegant or formal event BUT we will also have cornhole and a brunch buffet to make it more about us.

Would this look rustic or trashy?

I don’t think it would look trashy at all. It brings in something you both enjoy together. I think it’s a great idea.

I think it could look cool! You could also fill the growlers with fairy lights and then add the baby's breath.

I think the growlers are a great idea. It's something that you guys enjoy! As long as you don't set it on top of or wrap it in burlap lol.

I think it will fit your theme and you can make it look nice. Do a test run and post some pics here if you like for feedback.

Sounds very fitting to both of you and your venue. I'd add fairly lights and babysbreath.

I think it's a wonderful idea. Its part of you and your FH. I think that adding something if your personality makes a wedding even more special and nowhere near trashy.

I think that is SUCH a cute idea! It showcases something you like to do as a couple and tells a story of memories you have made. I also think the idea of lights in them would be super cute too!

What is a growler in beer terms? Where I am from, "growler" means something VERY different.

My super crafty beer friends just got married and this was an idea they considered! I think it’s great! Instead of doing this, the groom actually BREWED all of the beer for the wedding.

What other rustic decor did you have in mind? Will you incorporating beer into your wedding?

Those look amazing! Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Sk far the venue is the primary rustic piece but I haven’t much gotten into the minutia of decor. We just booked the venue 2 weeks ago and are working on DJ and caterers now.

But I do know for getting ready, rather than wearing the silk robes, my girls and I will be wearing customized oversized flannels.

    Do you have some ideas?

We we will be serving beer (and wine and apple cider mimosas, no hard liquor) but I am not sure if we will be bringing in a local brewery or just doing standard beers. It depends on if we choose a caterer who lets us do the bar separate or not!

No not at all! That is a great way to personalize the space and have everything about you! We had all different wine bottles as our centerpieces but we did the same thing with them. And if you are consistent then it will look like they all belong together!

    Good luck!!
