Groomsmen/father Attire

Nicole, on January 11, 2021 at 4:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

We are finally getting married on 5/28/21 after postponing (6/6/2020) and I am trying to get decisions made about the attire for the Groomsmen and the Father's and could use some help!

Our venue and wedding was originally downtown Chicago with a formal wedding dress code but has since changed to a smaller wedding at a private country club due to Covid in the Chicago Suburbs. My Original plan was to have the Groom in a Navy Tux with Black Lapels to stand out from the groomsmen and then the Groomsmen in Navy Tuxedos. I had always planned on having my Dad in a classic black Tux but was not sure what to do with my FHs Father or Stepfather. Do I put them in classic black tuxedos as well? FH Father in a Tux and Stepdad in a suit? I don't want to upset or down play his stepdad as he is a nice guy.

Is the Black going to look strange against the navy Tux's in photos? Should everyone just be in classic Black Tuxedos?

For reference I have included photos of my thoughts of the looks. The bridesmaids will be in a blush/rose color long matching dresses, MOB is in Navy, MOG is in light grey I believe. Our wedding colors are Blush/Rose, White, Eucalyptus Green, Navy and Gold accents.

Please help!!

Unless they don't own appropriate dress clothes, I would let them pick their own clothes. I did pick my dad's outfit, but he doesn't really own dress clothes so he told me just to tell him what to wear. I personally don't like black and blue together. I don't even really like the navy with the black lapels. My husband stood out by having a different vest, tie, and pocket square color. His boutonniere was also larger.

The groom usually picks out the mens attire. Either have all tuxes or all suits in one color. Don't put 9 people in a tux and 1 in a suit and vice versa.

Do the male family members already own tuxes? I'd have them wear those!!

I agree that matching the same formality level throughout is smart!
