Groomsmen Tux Color

Hello, everyone! The color scheme for my wedding will be royal blue, ivory and champagne. My wedding will also be during the fall. I was wondering what color tux would go well with royal blue bridesmaids dresses. I’ve added pictures of a display that I took today while my bridesmaids tried on dresses. The consultant added the royal blue bow tie and lapel that matched the color of the dresses for us to see, as well as held up a royal blue dress next to it to compare. In your opinion, based off the color scheme, would you go with tan for the guys or black? Thank you in advance!

I have never liked the look of tan tuxedos. They just don't look dressy or elegant to me.

I'm also not a fan of matching the mens' accessories to the women's dresses. It's a bit prom-ish. I would let the men choose the accessories that work with their tux.

You have the option of a classic midnight blue.

It also depends on the formality of your wedding. If your wedding is semi formal I'd go with the tan, if it's formal go with a darker color. I personally love the tan, but be really careful it doesn't wash out your GM. Best of luck!

I would personally go with the black (my bridesmaids dresses are navy and I really wanted to do black but my FH wanted gray). The gray actually looks pretty good with dark blue, so it might be worth seeing if it looks good with royal blue.

We are going to be doing matching accessories. My FH will be wearing an ivory vest and tie (which matches my dress--although that wasn't his original intention; it was more because the excellent sales associate at Men's Wearhouse suggested that he wear something a little different than the groomsmen) and the groomsmen will be wearing navy vests and ties, which go with the bridesmaids dresses.

I actually really like tan, but a gray might look good as well. Personally I don’t like royal blue with black.

My main color is navy blue, so in the blue family and we are going with light gray tuxes. The GM's will have navy vests, pocket squares and ties while my FH will have an ivory vest, pocket square and box tie so he stands out as the groom. Gray and blue pair nicely together especially the more medium to dark shades of blue like royal blue and navy.

I was thinking gray but I wasn't sure since the other colors are champagne and ivory.

Our other colors are silver and then accents of white and yellow. I asked my florist and she agreed that the gray would make everything pop .

I think I'd go with gray. The tan looks very casual, it might be ok in a suit but it doesn't quite work for a tux, IMO. You could do a navy blue but depending on how close the BM dresses are to the same shade, that might look weird. Like you tried to match them but didn't quite get it right. Gray but don't do the matchy accessories.

    Charcoal gray?

I only like tan for beach weddings.

I really love that! Personally I would do that for your groom and put the guys in an opposite color scheme, Navy blue suit with the tan accent or vice versa, but I honestly think that looks great!
