Groomsmen Shirts

Erika, on January 15, 2020 at 10:33 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

So FH and I decided that we are asking the groomsmen to provide their own black dress pants, black suspenders and to purchase a dress shirt in a specific color. But I have no idea where to send them to find the color I want. (dusty blueish/grey). I dont want to send them to Mens warehouse or some other massive chain store, but would rather them be able to purchase them either online for ease/time or a local Kohls (or something similiar). Ideas??

You'll make your life and theirs a bit easier if you narrow it down for them. You can do a little research and try to find the color shirts you are looking for. Try the major department stores (Macy's JC Penney, etc.) to see what they have. Check out online retailers like The Black Tux and Generation Tux. You can usually buy/rent separate pieces from them. Then send the GMs the link to that store online, or just tell them where to go. That way you get all the shirts the right shade.

We ordered the guys shirts and pants from Macy's. Watch for their sales. FHs sport coat was originally $350 but went down to $140 when I bought it. On Monday it was only $70..and now it's back up to what I got it for again..

My husband's friend did something similar. The friend and his wife picked out specific a shirt, pants and tie from Kohl's. They were also told to wear cowboy boots. Then all of the groomsmen just had to buy their items in their size. I would find a shirt you like in the color that you want then send them the link with the information so they can just purchase it in their correct size. Guys need direction otherwise you will end up with clothes that aren't correct. I would look at stores like Kohl's or Macy's.

Definitely find the shirt you want first. Then send them all a link to buy it in their size. We had our groomsmen purchase a specific cardigan from Amazon and we checked to make sure it came in everyone's sizes before we settled on it.

Let's say you find the best shirt at Kohl's. Make sure it comes in a variety of sizes and then send everyone the link. Easy peasy. ❤

Express Men is awesome for dress shirts. They come in a ton of colors and they have each color in a number of cuts and styles. Even my impossible to fit FH (bodybuilder) can find shirts that fit there. They can try on in person or order online and there are constantly 40% off sales.

I agree with everyone who is saying that you should pick for them and give direction. I was trying to be easy going by just letting the wedding party pick within guidelines. Worked great for the women who looooved the autonomy, not so much for the guys. It is going much better now with me just telling them what to do.
