Groomsmen Haven't Gotten Suits Yet!!!

Elizabeth, on July 13, 2021 at 8:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My wedding is on September 5th of this year, so less than 2 months away. My fiance has been telling and asking the groomsmen to order suits since the beginning of the year so they have time to get them altered if necessary. None of the groomsmen have ordered suits yet, and it's really starting to worry me. What would you do in this situation? I already told my fiance that they won't be in the wedding if they don't have a suit, and he doesn't seem too worried about it.

Are they renting or buying? Is it a specific suit or just a certain color? Suits are different than dresses in that they usually come in very quickly so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Our wedding is at the end of September and it was an ordeal getting our groomsmen to order theirs too. Since you mentioned alterations, are you requesting that they purchase suits? That is a pretty big expense and commitment for most people. Usually if you do suit rentals, they can be done as late as 14 days before the wedding and there are no alterations involved. I still wanted ours done earlier than that to ensure that the sizes they needed are in stock, but I'm not too concerned about those that still haven't completed their rentals.

Our tuxes are rentals and we were told they shouldn't come any earlier than last week of July/first week of August to get measured. Our wedding is Sept 4th and the tuxes will be ready for pickup about 3-4 days before the wedding. If your groomsmen are renting, I think it's fine for them to wait a little longer. If buying, most alterations usually don't take more than a week or two to get completed.

We decided it is more cost effective to buy suits. My fiance and I talked to the groomsmen to make sure they were okay with buying instead of renting and they all agreed. Maybe at this point it would be better to just rent

I understand being stressed but my now husband bought his own wedding suit 2 months before the wedding date and didn’t get it altered until like a month before. I was stressing but he was super chill about it and it came out beautifully!

I understand this feels frustrating, but I would honestly just let your future spouse handle all of this. His groomsmen = his stress.

My husband and I were recently in his sister's wedding. He bought a suit from Men's Wearhouse a few months ago. He purchased the suit on-site off the rack and the tailor did the fitting right there on the spot. He picked it up about 2 weeks later with all the alterations completed. They still have plenty of time.

If they go to men’s warehouse they can rent suits for an affordable price + they’ll get to them very quickly!! So I’d recommend seeing if there is one in their area and/ or a similar store nearby them!

Also, if it makes you feel better my FH & groomsmen just got their suits recently for our wedding august 12th lol. So you are deff good on time 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Timeline for men’s suits are so different than buying a bridal gown. My husband bought a custom suit from men’s wearhouse and it came in within 3 weeks. The groomsmen ordered their suits and they came in much quicker. Their alterations were all done within a day. Your fiancé and his groomsmen still have some time.

Look at it this way, would you expect your fiance to handle an issue about dresses for your bridesmaids? No. Let him handle the issue for his groomsmen and try not to be a helicopter about it.
