Groomsmen Gifts - not tacky?

Jenny, on March 26, 2020 at 4:33 PM Posted in Planning 1 8
Hey ladies! I need some idea for my FH for groomsmen gifts. He doesn’t want the typical or cliche pocket knife or flask with their initials. Any ideas???

Maybe at that point he can shop for each of them personally rather than giving everyone one common gift

So I personally hate the typical cliche wedding party gifts and I’m a fan of just shopping for people like it’s their birthday or Christmas.

My FH bought his guys wooden watches. He wears one everyday so he wanted each of them to have one to wear on our wedding day. He also has personalized Yeti Tumblers and watermelon printed socks- because our last name is going to be Mellon!

One idea is a can insulator from Yeti. Yeti offers customization on their site , but I don't know that is necessary. We liked this idea because all his groomsmen drink outdoors often at sporting or concert tailgates or at home and it would be a great way to keep beer cold. My FH plans to get them a 6 pack of their favorite beer too.

Here is the can insulator: https://www.yeti.com/en_US/rambler-12-oz-colster-can-insulator/YRAMCTWO.html?dwvar_YRAMCTWO_color=black&cgid=can-insulators#start=1

Nothing wrong with a common gift if its useful/practical! But it does help that all four of his guys have similar interests.

RTIC Is the same as YETI but much cheaper and they also do customization. I have had YETI and RITC products and they both work the same. If you don't want to go that route I would just shop for each groomsmen individually.

For my husband’s bachelor party, I gifted each of the guys a Yeti Lowball. It was engraved with their initials as well as the location and year of the trip.

For the wedding, my husband gave them Patagonia Fanny packs filled with little random stuff (mini alcohol bottles, mints, snacks, etc) for when they went golfing. For the morning or the wedding, we gave them their ties, pocket squares, socks, and suspenders.

We have a local place that has a really great deal on tailored groomsmen's suits so we decided to purchase instead of rent suits for our guys. We put $125 towards each one as their gift and they are covering the other portion (just under $100 for the rest of the suit and shirt). So they are walking away with a nice tailored suit for less than they'd rent one for. It's something to consider, even if it's just $50 each (still cheaper than renting)! I know not everyone has a similar place nearby or has groomsmen that need/want to own suits, but we think it is a great idea!
