Groomsmen Gifts - no alcohol

Katerina, on September 14, 2018 at 11:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Im looking for any ideas for groomsmen gifts. We dont want to get them anything alcohol/ cigar related. None of them are interested in sports either. They all do like board games and video gaming. My FH and his groomsmen (mostly his brothers) always play video games together.

Im just at a loss because most of the typical gifts I know they wouldn't use.

I should also mention, they also dont get dressed up that often. So FH also doesnt like the idea of tie clips and cuff links, etc. So unfortunately thats a no go...

I know on the Xbox website you can make custom controllers.... that would be different and fun. I think you can get them engraved too.

Im not sure about PlayStation or any other systems tho...

Shop for them like you would for their birthday or Christmas. A gift card to their favorite video game store would work.

You could do custom mice for each person and base it off of what you know about them individually.

Does it have to be video game related?

It does not have to be video game related, that was just an idea i have because most other " classic" gifts my FH doesnt think will work

I would do a gift card to their favorite game store or a personalized mouse or game controller. We are doing watches for our guys.

Watches is a good idea! unfortunately, his brother gave that as a gift at his wedding recently, so my FH doesnt want to copy that. I was just looking at desk clocks, but I think we might do personalized wallets now, depending on the price, I might put a gift card inside them Smiley smile

Groomsmen gifts can be tough! We FINALLY just settled on ours yesterday - we’re doing a leather dopp bag (we found them on amazon for a decent price) + ties & socks for the day + little bottles of jack & coke for each of them (and energy drinks for the guys that don’t like to drink). Our thoughts for bridal party gifts was that we wanted to get their accessories for the day, something edible that we know they’ll love, and then something they can reuse! (Plus a sweet thank you letter to each one of course Smiley smile )

I like the custom controller or mouse idea! What are you guys doing on the day-of? If there’s a decent amount of time in the morning and if there’s a gaming lounge near you, maybe you could pay for all the guys to go before the wedding and hang out for a few hours?

We are getting ours pocket knives with their names on them, but since they play games I'd get them gift cards for the system they have.

There’s lots of video game stuff on Etsy. I also think gym bags are a good idea I’m considering one for my brother with his initials on it

My husband's GM and 4 teen nephews who were ushers, like the outdoors, but are not into sports, or fitness. Like to have people over for dinners, cookouts at each others houses, play cards, games. All have hobbies. Since BM did not rent his cabin for a summer week so 10 guys could use it and waterfront 3 days/ 2 nights for a weekend bachelor party, a big gift for him, and the brother who brought groceries for all. Medium for GM. Small for 16-19 year old nephews in nice suit FI bought each, as ushers only. He did things with 1 gift, like a birthday, just for that person. Then FI used his cabinet maker skills, and made 3 Walnut cabinets to go over the new sink and fridge wet bar BM had put in dining room alcove, and made a solid Walnut bar top with hinge lift. Locks, as liquor cabinets. Brother groomsman, a truck bed liner. GM - one a Magic Chef 3.5 cu DT counter height fridge, for downstairs family room and workshop area, with sliders to back deck between rooms. With a can dispenser, and lock. Other a .8 cu ft microwave for his gaming room, and work from home office, over garage. Ushers: Floor mats for new used SUV for 1, cube dorm fridge and insulated 24 oz coffee thermos for 1, dorm fridge and Norelco drip coffee maker for 1, and Chilton's repair manual for new used pickup for 4th. And for his Godfather who was a BM also ( my Auntie / godmother a 2nd MOH), FI soent $125 at Home Depot for a folding 48" round table for poker games he could set up in family room or on deck, to end a 3 year fight with his new wife over taking over the kitchen table. . All over the place gifts, not a theme, but all get used.
