Groomsmen frustrations

Silverlava, on June 30, 2017 at 9:19 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

So I put my FH in charge of the groomsmen (getting their rentals ordered & buying their gifts) and completely went hands-off. Today (80ish days out) I ask my FH if the groomsmen have rented their suits, and none of them have. I know, I know, if they don't get the suit they dont walk. But at the same time, when is the deadline for renting a suit? Can they still get it? My girls got their dresses back in January.

I feel like 3 months is usually a good time frame for the guys. I don't think they're behind at this point, but they should start getting their butts in gear!

I'm three weeks after you and we haven't even gone in to set up our event for rentals yet. FH is the BM in a wedding tomorrow, he submitted his measurements in May sometime, like a month and a half before the wedding.

If you're really panicked, call the store and ask when the deadline is. My guess is they still have quite a while until the deadline.

We have looked and the tuxedos are picked out but our guys don't actually have to be fitted until August.

It really just depends on where they are renting from. Some places don't need long at all for the orders.

Most tuxes are like 30 days just to ensure you get something guaranteed.

I'd start just pressing him now though just in case and give them a hard deadline of 60 days before wedding to get measured etc.

We are using theblacktux.com since the groomsmen are scattered across the country. Their website says they have until 30 days before the event to make changes to their order. Is that the deadline?

Thats reassuring at least! All these dang details for the wedding have me swamped and I don't want to miss any deadlines--cuz let's be honest; if the groomsmen didnt get their suits i can guarantee the first thing they'd say is "why did no one remind me???"

Our guys, including the groom, didn't get their suits until a few weeks before the wedding.

ETA: this was suggested by the tux shop and we had no issues whatsoever.

Just a tip for you: my DH was in a wedding last summer and the groom told all the guys to go to Men's Warehouse for the rental and give them the event name. Day of the wedding, they're all getting ready and one of the guys had a black tux instead of navy, the groom never said what the color was because MW was supposed to know and the groomsman just assumed black was right because that's what he was given.

Make sure your FH tells them all the details just in case the rental place has a mix up!

Hi almost date twin! We aren't having a wedding party, but FH and our dads haven't gotten their tuxes either. I just picked up my dress and the boutique (also carries suits/tuxes) said they should come in between now and mid-July. I think you're fine! I would just probably want to DEF have them ready to roll by end of July at the very very latest.

Suits don't take that long. We rented suits about a month out. 80 days is plenty of time! Don't stress about it yet. Call the store and ask when the latest you can rent is.

My FFIL only got measured for his like, yesterday. They had until July 7th (everyone is done now though). Tuxes don't take as long.

I just haaaate leaving things to the last minute. If I had a deadline to rent a suit that was a month and a half away, I would still do it right now.

However.... I know you can't control everyone else so I just gotta keep my mouth in check lol

My FH is a co-best man in his friends wedding on 7/28/17.

They still have not done anything with their tuxes- it would have me panicked but he's mentioned it to his friend several times and nothing comes of it.

I know the struggle - I'm under 50 days out and I keep getting reminder e-mails from Men's Warehouse that such and such people have not yet come in for a fitting. The thing is, two of the GM are my brothers, and two are mutual friends, so it's hard for me to put it all on FH to wrangle them. You still have time, so don't stress too much.

If I'm not mistaken it's like 2 months for tux. Check who they are getting them from. Then you can call and find out. 1 less thing off your plate.

We used Men's Warehouse and I believe they had until 2-3 weeks before the wedding to get fitted and process the rental without incurring rush fees.

I keep stressing about this also since FH is now in charge of getting the suit and getting his guys to also but he told me to not worry about it so I guess I'm just gonna let it go and see what happens...
