Groomsmen attire

Cassy, on April 28, 2021 at 8:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Our wedding is September 25, 2021 and we are starting to look for the groom and groomsmen attire. With a couple of the guys being out of state I was originally thinking men’s wearhouse, but I haven’t heard great things. Where did everyone get their groomsmen attire and how many months before the wedding did you have to order?? Thanks!

Not much help but we went with someone local. They offer an online system where out of state guys can input their measurements and then just pick up the suit wedding week. Before we found them though, we were planning on Black Tux and I honestly cannot warn against them enough. I had heard awesome stuff but because of covid, their customer service and delivery is absolutely atrocious. My fiancé bought a suit that was supposed to ship next day, and three weeks later still hadn’t gotten anything. When we finally (took 3-4 tries) got ahold of customer service, they told him that although they’d already charged him $600, they didn’t have a suit for him to purchase but they would send him a rental. He eventually got the money refunded but it was a huge headache. I’d stay away from them until they can rehire stuff and get the hang of things again.

I was just thinking of taking him to Macys because he wants to feel the fabric and actually try it on? We donʻt have any other big box stores here besides one formal bridal shop

My fiance and I decided to try the online tux rental options, The Black Tux and Generation Tux, and we weren't overly thrilled with either. We did end up choosing Mens Wearhouse and maybe its just the one we went to, but the salesperson there was SO helpful and fantastic to work with. We made an appointment and my fiance tried out a bunch of different options. We left the appointment first without booking anything because we were deciding between charcoal gray and black. We then made a second appointment to try the options again and once we decided they were really great in helping us decide on all the accessories. They give you a group code which sets up an online group so you can see when the groomsmen get their measurements and do their rental order. Definitely helpful if you have any procrastinators! We did all of this about 3-4 months out.

So I’ve been super skeptical about men’s warehouse because we have had mixed previous experiences with them. I like to get things done with time, we visited last month and were basically thrown away because it’s “too early” he said (wedding is June 12,2021) My fiancé and the groomsmen actually went today to select their outfits and get fitted. The salesperson was so much better and nicer. I hate to say it, but they were our best option. Maybe meet

We ordered from the place I got my wedding dress. They had a tux rental company right there in the shop! I can’t remember what it was called. But they are a small company and not across the country. So, our out of state groomsman got his measurements and called them in. So easy! The tuxes all looked great.
Side note: my husband was a groomsman a few years ago and got his tux from men’s wear house and it looked horrible. So horrible that I had low expectations for him wearing a tux to our wedding. (So I really didn’t want to rent from there) But he wound up looking great!

We tried Mens Warehouse, made an appt, planned our day around it. when we got there, the lady goes, "oh you cant try anything on. no store does that. We would have to carry every suit in every size. most people know what they want already." seriously?? since when?
My fiance has been in a zillion weddings as a groomsman and has tried them on every time. really rude. why dont they TELL you that when booking the appt?? Hey you can come and look at stuff and then tell us verbally your order. lololol!!!!Thats like ordering a wedding dress wothout trying it on.

We found another shop that day and tried on some colors, at least we got some idea. He wants to feel the fit, fabric and I want to see the colors on his body not a model in a picture.I think we are going to go with Jim's Formal Wear. They are an online nationwide company that also works with local shops. So you can order multiple ways. Just online if you don't need to try on or the groom can go into a physical store get measured and try things on and have things shipped to the store. Each local store is different though so you have to just enter your zip code and do a little research on the best one in your area. Best of luck!

If you choose Men's Warehouse please just speak up if you are unhappy with the fit!

FH's brother had all the guy's get their tuxes at Men's Warehouse and they all fit horribly. I said something at FH's fitting when it came in and was dismissed and told I didn't know what I was talking about. My mom owned a bridal store/tux rental store for 24 years, I know how a Tux should fit. FH told the sales lady it felt big and she told him "that's how its supposed to look" in what world a tux is supposed to be BAGGY I'll never know. Meanwhile his other brothers tux was so tight he couldn't move. My mom can't even look at his brother's wedding pictures cause the tuxes are soo bad.

Unfortunately I don't have advice on where to look as we're not at that point of wedding planning yet, but I do know my mom will be present at every groomsman fitting and will measure them herself to ensure it's correct.

We went to Men's Warehouse. I am a planner by nature so I had the appointment and groomsmen info set up by the time we went. We had a great saleswoman to assist and were very vocal about what we wanted. I wanted to try Generation Tux but didn't want the hassle of online. I hope your appointment goes well.
