Groomsmen and Ushers attire

FutureMrsR, on June 7, 2018 at 7:10 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hi!

I've been a long time lurker on the forums, but now I decided to finally join in on the conversations.

My FH and I have been debating on what exactly we want our ushers to wear (back story: FH couldn't decide between all of his friends and didn't want to have an uneven wedding party so he decided to have 2 ushers along with his 5 groomsman). FH is in a cobalt blue tuxedo with black lapels, our groomsman are in cobalt blue tuxedos, and he talked about having the ushers in everything the groomsman are in except for the tuxedo jacket. So just the button up, vest, tie, and pants. My thought is to have the ushers in everything the groomsman are in except the vest, so button up, jacket, tie, and pants. Or should we just say screw it and have them in the same exact thing as the groomsman?

Thanks for any input Smiley smile

Either option would look fine. Maybe ask the ushers what their preference is.

I have 3 brothers and I can’t expect my fiancée to have all the in the wedding. My brothers are going to be ushers so they can still be part of the wedding. They are wearing the exact attire as the groomsmen. You don’t have to, I just thought for picture sake, I wanted them all to match. You’re free to do what you want! It’s your wedding! Happy planning!!!!

I'm not sure it's appropriate for you to dictate the outfit, and demand they rent tuxedos, to people outside your wedding party, even if they're Ushers for the ceremony.

I have four brothers who we asked to be ushers, and I only told them the level of formality they needed to dress to and asked them not to wear any bright colors that would clash with our wedding colors/decor. I can't imagine asking them to spend that kind of money on a special tux when you really aren't honoring them the same way as the wedding party.

Both Ushers are perfectly fine with renting outfits, FH asked everyone what their preference was in regards to renting tuxedos/suits and both ushers agreed they would rather rent outfits, instead of attempting to get something on their own.

But I do understand where you are coming from, if they weren't comfortable with renting something I would definitely not be dictating what they could or couldn't wear.

Everyone who has a role in the wedding should be dressed to the same level of formality. In your case, that would mandate a jacket.

We have the groom wearing grey suit with grey vest and colored tie. Groomsmen and ushers all wearing the same thing- grey suit, colored vest, grey tie. We have 4 ushers though....don’t ask..
