Groomsman Gifts Besides Alcohol

Colleen, on January 13, 2018 at 8:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17
Hi! So one of the men in our bridal party doesn't drink. (he is currently recovering from addiction) I am wondering if anyone has any ideas that don't involve alcohol?? We don't want him to stand out so we'd like to get them all the same thing but also don't want it to be cheesy?? Please help. 🙂

Cufflinks, money clips, shaving kits, or a nice personalized multitool. If you don't like those, maybe a subscription to a box that matches their interests.

You don't have to get all the groomsmen the same gifts, if that's helpful. You can shop for them like it's their birthday. My FH doesn't know what he's getting his GMs yet, but he's getting them all something different. They all have different personalities and there was nothing he could think of that they would all like.

My fiance is getting fancy engraved pens. My friend's husband made weapons out of bike parts for his groomsmen.

Choose gifts for their individual taste/interests/hobbies, the same way you should for the bridal party. Buying everyone the same gift is taking the easy way out and not nearly as thoughtful. It's like buying everyone on your Christmas list the same gift. Who does that?

Engraved knives are always nice. Like someone mentioned earlier, wallets and money clips are great useable gifts too. My fiance got an engraved fancy shaving blade (like the ones you see in old movies) for when his sister got married and it sits in his drawer. I wouldn't give gifts that hide in a drawer......

My FH is doing axes, but he only has 3 people to buy for and those are spendy. Special ties, knives, hobby related items (golfing club, deck of cards, ect), full sized cups (instrad of shot glasses), sweatshirts.... that's all I can think of at the moment

Everyone in our wedding party, men and women, got glassybaby candle votives. http://www.glassybaby.com/ They are beautiful and should last a lifetime. There are many different names and gorgeous colors, and picked names that made sense for the person. My parents who paid for the wedding got "Gratitude," and the best man, who was responsible for us meeting, got "Wingman."

I personally don't think it's anyone else's business what you get someone else as a gift. It would be more heartfelt and honest to give them different gifts in private, and then it won't be an issue.
