Traditionally, who pays for the groomsmen attire? I was talking about wedding stuff with my fiance last night and he mentioned that he plans on paying for the grromsmen attire AND still getting them gifts. We have 5 each in our bridal party. He says he has NEVER paid for his own tux rental in any wedding he’s been in . That’s sounds pretty lucky to me, but is that tradition? I guess I never thought much about the groomsmen side of it and just assumed that the bridal party (BM’s and GM’s) pay for their attire, and you thank them with a nice gift. I did NOT included GM’s attire in the budget. MW rentals are anywhere from $99-$200 and we each have 5 attendants. That could be $1000 PLUS gifts for each guy! He can’t seriously think we have that in the budget it. Can he???

We are paying for this wedding ourselves, and I think the reason he's never paid is that parents paid for the weddings he was in.

What are you and your FH doing? Who’s paying for what?

If you can't get FH to budge on paying for their attire, my FH just decided on TheBlackTux for his groomsmen. He was able to find a rental of a 3 piece suit, shirt & shoes for $170. (Our GMs are paying for their own rentals though.) We're going to provide them with matching ties & socks to wear as well.

Renting a tuxedo is so, so, SO stupid. I'm really annoyed that I have to pay $300 to rent a POS tux and cheapo shoes for my friend's wedding. If you can't flip the bill for your groomsmen, then be decent enough to ask them to just BUY a suit of your choice instead. Buying myself a new suit/shoes for $300 is a better investment for me since I'll wear it more than once (I wear suits to work). I'm steaming about that wasted money. Most tux's are just tacky looking anyway.

Brides/Grooms don't do tux's if you ain't paying! Trust me! No one will get mad a buying themselves a sharp suit and shoes!
