Have you chosen your groom's wedding band yet? I've been looking but haven't chosen it yet. He's a laid-back kinda guy who does't want anything fancy. All he wants is a gold band, no diamonds, so designs, just a plain band of good quality. What have you chosen? I do plan to get it engraved though,...

I do plan to get it engraved though, just deciding what I want to have on there. i'm thinking "1985" that's the year we met and we first dated. I wish he wanted something with a design, but it's his ring and he deserves to have want he wants.

My FH didn't want any diamonds ( I had suggested it and thought it would be great, but he wanted plain). However, I searched and searched for months and online, found a unique ring with two-tone metal and 2 diamonds in a vertical arrangement, which kind of matches my ring (which I designed and had made). They represent Best Friend and True Love. When I showed it to him, he liked it a LOT. We finally found a store that carried this brand, visited and they had ONE ring of this style and it happened to be in his size exactly. We knew it was THE ONE!!!

My FH is a big whiskey drinker, so we've found some that are made with an inlay of whiskey barrels that he like. I will also get it engraved

14kt is the standard. Gold is a soft metal, so you can get away with 18kt but 24kt may not hold up well to longterm wear and tear. 10kt just usually doesn't look as nice. 5-6mm is kind of a medium thickness band. If he isn't giving you much direction, your best bet is to just bring him to a store. My fiance wasn't giving me much so I brought 2 options to him and he picked what he wanted out of those 2.

My FH wanted a plain gold band. I thought it sounded sooo boring, and I wanted to talk him into something more modern, maybe silver? Tungsten? A cool two tone inlay? Something super personable?... Then as we're standing at the display counter at the jewelers, he points to a ring and says "that one". He chose a plain, 5mm, comfort band, 14k yellow gold. He told me he wanted that ring because as a kid, he remembers all the patriarchs in his family, sitting with them as a little kid and seeing their big manly hairy knuckles, with gold wedding bands. To him it symbolizes maturity, responsibility, family.... And he wants to be a continuation of that. I almost cried at the jeweler. I didnt say another word about it other than it was perfect, and we came home with a plain yellow gold band. Smiley heart

It is a sweet sentiment. He's been matching me since the beginning. Our first wedding we went to, I noticed that he wore a tie that matched my dress. I thought that was cute and jokingly asked if he did that on purpose. He said he had! Everytime we went to a an event where we were dressed up, as soon as he knew which dress I was wearing, he would pick out a tie to match.

Our 4 year Anniversary is in three days and ove only recently learned where this came from. My mom and I had called my dad to ask if he had gon to FH's tux shop yet for his wedding tux. He said yes and that he'd picked out a purple tie. We both were like, "You're wearing a purple tie to the wedding? Why? Does FH know about this?" He said he picked it out to match my mother's dress. The reason he did that is because FH's father had also picked out his tie to match his wife's dress!!! It was so cute and such a sweet gesture of unity and now I know that he gets it from his father!

On a side note, I recall FH's brother was hard pressed to find out exactly which shade of white I was wearing. (My gown is ivory.) I think this was to determine what color tie FH will wear.
