Grooms tux

Nicole, on August 17, 2022 at 1:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
I NEED HELP! So I am getting married on January 28th 2023 (163 days from today). My fiancé STILL hasn’t ordered his tux. Now this probably wouldn’t be an issue if he rented. No he wants to buy a custom tux! I’m freaking out because we’re getting close and I don’t trust him to do anything else for the wedding. For instance I asked him back in February to get addresses for his family. He finally did it three days ago! So someone please tell me it’s not too late for my fiancé to order a custom suit!!!!!!

It is not too late! My husband got a custom suit as well and they got it done in about 2 months. He went for his first appointment in mid-December and the suit was done by mid-February for our 2/22/22 wedding. 😆

If there is a Jos. A Banks store in your area, they are fantastic!

If it were me I would give him an ultimatum or drag him to the store. I wouldn't continue waiting around for something he might continue to put off at the very last minute especially if he is also expecting his groomsmen to get custom suits as well.

Thankfully the groomsmen have simple suits so we don’t have to worry there

That's a good thing. Has he given any reason as to why he won't just go and get his suit? I thankfully got lucky with my husband in that he knew his tux and the groomsmen needed to be picked out well in advance. I think part of that though was that he wanted his brother who lives eights away to go with him and his other groomsmen and his brother was planning on being in town for New Year's so that motivated him to pick out a tux.

He just finished his apprenticeship for becoming a mortician, he hasn’t had the money to purchase one yet. He gets his first real paycheck this month.

Then that makes sense. My recommendation would be if you have a store in mind then I would call and find out what their turnaround time is for getting a custom suit. This will hopefully give you some peace of mind and also an idea of when he would absolutely need to go in by.

We're doing ours through Indochino! My fiance went in for his measurements July 30th and they had a suit custom made and shipped out August 11th! We'll get it at our doorstep within the next 1-2 weeks. You can find good options in a short timeframe and for a decent price too (fully customized for under $400).

Depending on the stores available in your area, it’s probably not too late. My husband got his done in 5 weeks.

I think you have time. I'd just tell him that he needs to schedule an appointment or else you'll be dragging him to Men's Wearhouse this weekend lol.

I'm sure it's not too late. But more importantly, I think you are going to have to learn to trust him (and he's going to have to learn to be trustworthy!) if you want to be able to rely on him for anything in your marriage. Start working together as a team now, and things will be much easier later.

The good news is that if he fails to order his custom tux in time, he can rent one much closer to your date. That would just have to be the consequence of his inaction.

It is DEFINITELY not too late!! Promise!! We are getting married in September, and my sweet soon-to-be hubby didn't get his custom-made tuxedo started until July (lol)....but we have it, and it's beautiful. Also, can't the tailor give you realistic timelines?

re: trusting him for wedding things...know your partner and play to his strengths! If he hates administrative things, avoid them! What about music, food? He is about to be your teammate for life, so go at it as a team! and have FUN!!!!

Must go soon - so you have something to work with when it comes in. Most likely things will have to be tweaked. Nothing comes in fitting perfect and it’s best you give yourself some wiggle room.
