grooms cake size

Autumn, on January 29, 2009 at 5:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

Ok so I've been to tons of weddings with grooms cakes and know they are much smaller than the wedding cake...but how do I determine how many people to feed with it? We meet with our cake baker on Sunday and I have no idea. Thanks!!!

Our caterer told me their grooms cakes serve 20 people and all the ones i've seen have been around 20 people outside of him

There are two ways we have done grooms cakes. One is to have it as the dessert at the rehearsal dinner. The other is alongside the wedding cake. The way it's done at weddings is this - let's say you have 200 guests to serve. Your wedding cake and grooms cake TOGETHER should make up the total number of servings -it's up to you on how to divide it. It can be 50 servings for the grooms cake and 150 for the wedding. There are no rules!
