Groom’s Best Friend As Bridesmaid

Brianna, on January 3, 2021 at 10:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
My fiancé wants his best friend to be apart of our wedding, but wants her to be bridesmaids instead of a grooms-woman (mostly to even out the sides). Her husband will be the best man. I’m excited to have her on my side, but what I need some help with are ideas with the bridesmaid proposal. Not sure of any cute ideas or sayings to make her feel more welcome to my side and not like it to was an after thought to include her.

I made personalized cards for each of my bridesmaids and with a graphic and cute/funny saying I thought worked for each of them. I bought and box and put glitter initials on all of them and fun things inside the box. Below are some of the boxes I put together and cards I made.

You can even mention that when you and FI discussed it, you were thinking he was asking you to be groomswoman, so that is why you asked the others first. You wanted her all along, just were not sure who she would stand with, since both you and FI wanted her, unlike the others. She may be last asked, but she is was much wanted all along . You are not doing it out of obligation, but are in fact excited to have her, as you said here, and those are words she should hear.

I did a Starbucks themed bridal box if you want to do something like that.

Sides don't have to be even. My husband's female best friend was on side because she is closer to him. Also knowing his friend she wouldn't have agreed to be on my side anyways since her and I don't have the best relationship. Have you already asked all of your other bridesmaids because it might make her feel like an after thought if she is the last one to be asked. Anyways to answer your question, I would think about what she likes. For example, one of my girls loves coffee so a coffee mug or gift card to Starbucks would have been a perfect item to include if we had done proposal boxes. Or I know I love getting baths using bath bombs so I'd love getting that in a proposal box. Just think about what her interests/hobbies are and go from there.

Simply ask her. Gifts and going all out isn't required.

If she is his best friend, I think she should be on his side. The number on each side is irrelevant. If you do choose to do it that way, just ask her the same way you asked your other bridesmaids.

If he wants her involved, she needs to be on his side. He doesn't get to decide who your bridesmaids are, like you don't pick his groomsmen.
