Groom’s Attire

Christina, on January 22, 2022 at 7:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 6
Let me start off by saying ill fitted suits bother my SOUL. My fiancée is open to renting or buying a suit for our big day. He already knows I’m a spazz about the fit so we’re not really sure what the best option would be here. To anyone who has rented their wedding attire, were you able to find a really nice fit? Obviously, you can’t tailor a rental which is why I’m wondering if anyone was able to achieve a close look. If so, any suggestions on where to rent from? Which brands? If you bought one, I’d also love to hear your experience and what stores/brands you suggest. He and I are both pretty clueless on how this whole process works in general, so any information/advice is appreciated. We will also need to get a suit for our 8 year old son as well, preferably through the same retailer.

FH got a beautiful Canali suit from Nordstrom, and they did all the tailoring in-house. They have everything from luxury designers to more affordable options in men’s suits, and their customer service is impeccable.

My fiancé bought a custom suit from Indochino for a wedding he was in last year. He loved it so much, he ordered his custom tux from them. My dad bought his suit from Men’s Warehouse and had it altered to fit, and it looks great (We picked it up today). I’ve heard from others that Men’s Warehouse is hit or miss though.

If this is his first suit, and he has not needed it before professionally, then I think it could be beneficial and fun to talk to a specialist in a menswear section, no pressure to buy. They can give him tips on choosing either an everyday suit with special event details, or a suit he'll only reserve for special occassions. Menswear styles do change so I'm just thinking about practicality. But, really any good tailoring will make a man look sharp, no matter the cost of the suit. You can find suits from JC Penney to custom or bespoke shops. Local Mom and pop shops should also have suit and tux styles as well as in house tailoring. I would also consider department stores and their Outlets. I would suggest tailoring a bit closer to the wedding for any weight fluctuations, just like with bridal gowns. Good luck.

I’ve never heard of Indochino before. Just checked them out though and they have some pretty nice stuff and the pricing isn’t bad either! Thank you.

I’m glad you said that he should talk to someone. I was thinking the same thing, cause honestly we have no idea what we’re doing lol. He’s never needed like a really nice suit before, and it’s not something I foresee him using often in the future either as of now. I’ll check out more local places. Thank you.
