Dedicated October 2020

Grooms attire

VICTORIA, on June 9, 2020 at 10:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 10

I am beyond stressed. Our wedding is at the end of October 2020, so far so good on moving forward as planned.

HOWEVER, our appt for the suits was cancelled due to the shutdowns. And, they haven't reopened yet.

At what point is it *too late* to get these suits?! I'm thinking by end of July, if we haven't even gotten in there, then it's probably a lost cause Smiley sad

How long did it take all of you to get your Groom and Groomsmen measured and get the suits/tuxes? We are doing navy blue suits with burgundy ties and suspenders. I'm purchasing the suspenders, as the place doesn't have burgundy ones, so I need the tie swatch before buying them to make sure they match! We have 3 adults and one 7yo that will need suits.

    Are you renting or purchasing?
Renting you can put an order in up to 6 weeks before and the last day to get fitted usually is 8-12 days before the event day.

Fortunately renting a tux is super easy. I grew up with boys and for prom/weddings it was never a difficult task. Much easier than getting a bridal gown. They get shoes, cuffs, socks, tie (if you want) vest, pants and jacket all in one stop.

I would look into Generation Tux. They also have suits. They are an online only and all you have to do is send in measurements. You could take the measurements yourself. They have the option to try on before you buy. We didn't use them, but they have really good reviews.

Men’s Wearhouse said 2 weeks before our wedding date their measurements were due. However, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Since they didn’t reopen in tome, we ordered a quality suit from Macy’s ($80) and I had already purchased the ties/pocket squares for our groomsmen. They were less than $10/groomsman because the tie/pocket square came together.

Many rental places won’t even let you order until 1-2 months out, so I think up until at least August is safe.

You can also check The Black Tux. They're online and also have a try at home program. You can add whatever measurements you need on their site and they'll tell you what you need. That's where we're getting ours as well. Almost similar to you. All navy suits, no suspenders. FH is wine tie and groomsmen either in blue, black or silver tie. Anywho, I wish you luck.

Hey! Our wedding is also at the end of October! I actually got mine from kohl’s! They usually have pretty good sales on them. Also navy blue and then got our ties off of amazon!

I think you have more time than you think, but it can't hurt to be ahead of the game. I would keep calling and trying to get in as soon as they open, but really you don't need to put in a rental order until 1-2 months ahead of time. If you're buying, then I suggest online stores with good reviews.

We got my husband's groomsmen's rentals from men's warehouse and had no issues. The groomsmen just had to go in and be measured by the 2 week mark before the wedding. We bought my husband a custom suit for our wedding so he had to be measured 2 months before the wedding. Where are you getting the tux/suits from?

Suits are so much faster than dresses its not even funny. Many dudes typically do it the month before the wedding.

My husband rented a tux for a friend's wedding and got measured not more than 2 months before (I think like 6 weeks). For our wedding, he and his groomsmen purchased their suits from Indochino and got them super quickly. They take about 2 weeks to make and ship, so the guys had them within 3 weeks of getting measured.

With Covid I think its reasonable to expect a bit of a delay, but I still think you wouldn't need to order before August for suits, and could maybe even do it in early September.

Don't ask me why guys can get a perfectly fitted suit in a month but brides need to order wedding dresses a full 6 months to a year out and bridesmaids typically need 3-4 lead time.
