Groom/groomsmen tweed suits

on January 5, 2021 at 3:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 14
Hi Brides!

I am hoping to have the groom/groomsmen wear tweed suits for our wedding in September. But when I started looking around I have been having a hard time finding any tweed suits to rent. I am hoping to do a light grey or heather grey tweed suit. Has anyone had any luck finding tweed suits that you didn’t have to buy and only rent? Plus, all the groomsmen are out of town so if there is a website you found that can be used no matter the location that would be helpful. Thank you!

Hello! I had the same vision for our groomsmen's suits, but I couldn't find anywhere online that would rent them. They're just SO EXPENSIVE to purchase!!

I had looked at Asos Men's for suits and they had some 'tweed' ones that we liked. But they don't offer it in everyone's sizes, so we're using Menguin for the suits! I'd suggest looking at Asos though!! They have different colors, patters, and fabrics of suits that look great!

Glad to know I’m not the only one struggling to find tweed suits! Though it is my vision I will probably have to change it to accommodate all the groomsmen, I don’t want them having to worry about buying suites for one day.

ASOS Men’s looked like a cool site, but I agree the sizes aren’t for everyone and that can be tough for 5 very different sized groomsmen and groom.
I will look into Menguin and the other sites a bit more and hopefully find something I like. Thank you for the help!!

    I get how you feel!

That was the main problem with ASOS Men's. While the suits are a great tweed alternative, they don't seem very size inclusive.

We're going with The Copenhagen from Menguin! I ordered a swatch and the color is so nice! It's not your typical slate or navy blue, which I loved. Also, if 5 people order their suits from them, the groom's suit is free, just a little heads up!

You're welcome, and happy wedding planning!

I could not find any rentals, and ordered this for the holiday, for my grown nephew. He owns 1 sports jacket, and if they happen will have interviews and passport and school / work interview pics in Feb, Mar and April. I hate what I call the Pee Wee Herman Look, suits cut so snug to the figure that if you put a hand in your pocket it strains at the chest button. So I added 2 inches to chest and waist, and it arrived a comfortable fit on his late teen body, in 7 weeks
A neighbor used them once, and I did once, and we know nothing about them. They look like JCPenney or Sears Wool tweeds. But low price of some may work for a wedding.

I wanted tweed too, and found NO rentals available sadly. I did find Studio Suits which I felt had the best options and price is not too much more than the average rental. Haven't used them yet so can't speak to the quality but they have a ton of colors.

I highly recommend Tweed Maker, they are super nice and affordable. They are having a sale right now! We ordered the blue three-piece for husband/groomsman, but wedding is postponed until this November, so I don't have any pictures of the suits in action, but the quality is good and the tweed is beautiful Smiley smile

Something to notice on the 3 tweed makers suits above: Studio suits, all tweeds all prices are wool 100%, linings viscose. ...**************************
Tweedmaker suits are 30% wool and 70% polyester.
****************************** .Dobell tweeds the lower price below $250 are 30%wool 70% poly, . . Middle $300to $ 450 are 40% wool 60% poly, and $499 and up are 100%wool. So male sure you are comparing the same product not just price. All traditional tweed suits are either a lighter or heavier 100% wool, summer or warm weather light, winter heavy. Unspecified, spring and fall around here, 45 to 70 degrees.

Has Anyone gone through with purchasing from either tweedmaker or studiosuits.com? I am interested in hearing about the results and your experience as I am looking into both of these companies for a tweed suit of my own.
