Groom with a beanie?

My FH went to look at tuxes on Saturday and he has picked out an ivory tux. He asked me on Saturday if he could wear a beanie for the wedding. I wasn't present for fittings, so I'm not sure how good it would look. He has been balding since he was 17 and now it is very noticeable. He has tried every product to prevent balding and to regrow hair, but nothing works. He wears a beanie more than half of the time to cover it. I feel like it wouldn't look right, but I know he would feel comfortable. Any thoughts or other alternatives?

My FH has been balding since college...I quite literally shave his head for him twice a week and it is a special bonding time for both of us. Bald is super sexy! I'm glad to hear he has done it before, maybe see if he's into shaving again. If not then definitely try to find a real hat, not a beanie. I hope he can learn to accept and embrace himself!

FH has the same problem and always wears a casual hat when we go out in public. We got him a gray fedora from amazon to wear for the wedding it's a little fancier than a baseball cap or beanie, and goes well with a tux

This is a tough one.
I'd maybe ask him to not wear it for the ceremony but I'd be ok with it for the reception.

I think people wearing beanies when it's not cold outside are confused. ... among other things.

There are a billion other hats he could wear.

Obviously it is super important that your FH feels comfortable, but a beanie is going to look so out of place in a formal wedding especially with a tux. I'm with Celia that people will definitely notice a beanie with a tux over a guy who is balding. Being 33, a ton of my friends are starting to lose their hair and honestly the harder they try to hide it the more noticeable it becomes. If he really is going to be uncomfortable going hatless, I would encourage him to look into other styles of hats that would look better with a tux and match the formality of the attire. Other posters have given some good examples.
