Groom wearing white?

Sharon, on October 7, 2017 at 12:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Is it weird that my FH is not wearing any white with his tux? Our colors are red and purple because those are our 2 favorite colors. Half the groomsmen are wearing red ties/red pocket squares and the other half are wearing purple ties\purple pocket squares. FH is wearing a red tie and a purple pocket square so that he will be wearing both of our colors. His Mom and Sister think it's so weird that he's not wearing any white to match me. I thought my idea was sentimental but now they're making me self conscious and second guess my choice. What do you think?

I love that idea!!! I love dark colors. I wouldn't be upset at all if FH decided to ditch the white and went with a darker color!

I love the colors! I don't think it's weird at all not to wear white! Plus you want your Groom to feel comfortable - it's his day too! My FH is wearing navy. Smiley smileSmiley smile

Is he wearing a white shirt? If so, there's the white they want.

I've never heard of the groom needing to wear white. Don't worry about it!

Many brides choose not to wear white. There are no rules. Wear what the two you feel best in. It is YOUR wedding after all, not his mom's or sister's.

I was irritated that they gave an opinion I didn't ask for and made me second guess myself. I still think it's a good idea Smiley smile

FH is wearing a navy suit, like his party. Everyone has a maroon bowtie, but his is ivory to match my dress.

There's no set dress code for a wedding. While there is "traditional," there is no necessary dress code. I think your colors will look great as is, and it's yall's day! I wouldn't even worry about what FSIL and FMIL say in regards to that. Smiley smile
