Groom vs Groomsmen tux

FutureFuentes2019, on July 16, 2018 at 1:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Hello beautiful brides! 👰🏼 My FH wants to wear the same thing as his GM but I want him to stand out just a little more. He says he’s open minded to have a slightly different look, but we’re having some trouble finding something that we both like. Any ideas of what to do to make him a little different?

He’s got some restrictions:
-he doesn’t want to wear a bowtie
-he doesn’t want his gm to wear bow ties
-he doesn’t want to wear a white tie
-he wants everyone in a tux (with jackets)

Some ideas we’ve thought of:
-he wears a boutonnière, the GM wear pocket squares
-his tie has a pattern, the GM wear solid

here is the Groom and GM attire we’ve selected.

thanks so much for the advice and ideas! ❤️

My FH will wear an ivory shirt pink tie, his groomsmen will wear ivory shirt navy ties to match the girls dresses. I’d suggest if he wants to look the same, just change to color of thier ties.

Keep the tie different from the GM and put him in a different color undershirt that goes underneath the tux and put him in suspenders to wear underneathhis jacket that he can take off and look different from everyone else! And only give him the boutonnière that’ll also save money on floral costs! Good luck! ☺️

Yes, he and the GM are wearing vests. They are the same cut as the jacket.

He could wear a 3 piece suit with a vest while the rest of the guys just wear a jacket or maybe have suspenders. You could also change up the shirt color or pattern between the groom and groomsmen.

Different undershirt? Everything I would have said he shot down lol. My FH is wearing a tux and his groomsmen are all wearing suits. Everything is black on black but the groomsmen will have wine color bow ties and he will have an ivory tie. If your FH doesn’t like any of those ideas, then I think the tie or the button down shirt is all that can be changed to help him stick out. I had this conversation with my FH many times, the groom really should stand out just as the bride.

Our guys are all wearing tan suits with ivory shirts and blush ties, groom has an ivory tie and a slightly larger boutonnière (2-3 roses where GM all have 1).

One of my old college friends just got married and his suit was very similar to the one you have picked out! To make him stand out, he wore brown shoes and all of his groomsmen wore black. It made it very obvious who the groom was.

Purchase a different boutonniere for him, either a different color or flower all together. My daughter"s bouquet was made up with the same flowers as her bridesmaids, with the addition of some orchids. The groomsmen wore boutonnieres that coordinated with one of the common flowers from the bouquets and my sil's boutonniere was made with orchids.

My FH is wearing a different color vest, tie, and pocket square. It's one of our accent colors while the groomsmen are in the main color.

You could have GMs wear color ties and groom wear a black tie! That’s what we’re doing

I'd definitely go with doing a patterned tie. Anything on the jacket will be gone once he takes off his jacket at the reception and anything underneath will be covered during the ceremony and pictures.
I managed to sell my fiance on wearing a burgundy tux with his groomsmen in navy. Conveniently, hes a big fan of Anchorman

My groom will be wearing a vest with a burgundy patterned tie and navy suit. The guys will have the same suit, but navy tie and no vest

I like the idea of Groom with a patterned tie and GM solid. It's subtle, but it's still something to differentiate him.

If he's open to it, my suggestion would be to have the groom in a patterned tie with the same color as the others. My fiance is wearing a pocket square and boutonniere, but his groomsmen are only wearing boutonnieres.
